Back to the "old" 8600c

I am looking on ebay for new microprocessor, and I just wonder if my "old" 8600c will accept a 1.73GHz, with a bus of 533Mhz. I know my lappy works at 400Mhz, but... just wondering if possible...

BTW, what about duo core microprocessors?

The 533mhz bus might work the the chip will not run at 1.73ghz due to the 855 chipset that can only take a 400mhz FSB. Duo core processors will not work. If you want something that will run at the speed that is given you need to find a 400mhz FSB Dothan chip.

It won't work. They are a different chip, and a 915 chip will not run in a 855 motherboard.



(Yes there is a pinmod that lets the 855 chip run in the 915 at a faster speed, but I have never read anything about the reverse.)

You didn't because it would run at 1.3 GHz and thus makes no sense at all.
