Rumor - D620 delayed 3 months due to Nvidia card? - Page 2

Yeah I dont know if I'm going to like downgrading screen size. I'll probably give this one to her and buy another XPS after the new one comes out and a killer deal becomes available.

I really look for my order to move out of production stage pretty quick or my delivery date of May 5 may be in jeopardy. I really want some confirmation from Dell that there will be no delay due to hardware issues.

jjfcpa,

What date did you order yours? My order date was the 31st, and ship date is scheduled May 15. I had originally ordered Mar 29 which had a ship date of May 5, but cancelled and ordered with different specs.

I have not heard anything about any further delay due to the Nvidia issue.

I actually received a call from Dell today asking if I would like to switch to the D820, which has a build time equal to half of the D620's. By the time I got through talking to the sales rep, he agreed to spec one out and give it to me at just slightly less money than I was going to pay for the D620.

On top of that, I got the 120M Nvidia card, 9 cell battery (I ordered the 6 cell with the D620), and the 90 watt adapter (I ordered a 65 watt with the D620).

The estimated ship date is May 1st, which he said is pessimisstic - it should ship sooner.

After reading the reviews of the D820, I was kind of wondering if I should have ordered it instead of the D620, so this was like a call from heaven.

Here's the entire specs

That's pretty pimped out, maybe I should do the same... but I really would prefer a 14.1 system right now.

Nice set-up; really good price, too. Trouble is, I travel alot, and I really want a 14" screen. However, I'll email my rep and try to figure out if May 15 is still good. If not, maybe I'll have to reconsider the D820 even with the 15.4"...

Did he mention any reason why the wont be offering them? Glad I ordered early and got one with the card already.

Does that mean there are problems and they are just going to hope the user doesn't run into them, so they'll take a calculated risk to ship them anyway and keep the money?

From what I've seen, that seems like something they would do.

All right. That guy appears to be totally wrong now. I just got a call from a different rep. that told me they were cancelling all d620 orders with NVIDIA cards and I have to downgrade to 610 or upgrade to 820 at the 'discounted' price. They left me a number and extension to call to ask about the deal so i'll see what they have to say. I'm just afraid this third guy might tell me yet another story lol.

There definitely seems to be a problem with the D620... only question is... is it the gpu or is it something else?

Glad I switched to the D820.

I reorder and got the d820. They will automatically give you $400 off plus the $180 already offered on the site.

I upgraded to the 512 video card. Will this allow me to play any games on it now?

Hmmm. Maybe I should try to get a deal on an 820 and cancel my 620. Wonder if they'll do anything for me since my 620 order only has integrated graphics. This whole thing with the 620 is a bit sketchy.
integrated is not affected. Infact they offered me a downgraded 620 with integrated to replace my NVIDIA card

That's somewhat reassuring since it may imply that the problem is with availability of the card rather than technical issues.

Anyhow, congrats on the 820. I hope we're not disappointed.
