Thanks,

i'm looking to buy one of these for my company logo.

i just started a web design company so this will be used primarily for business but also games on the side some r&r.

plus it protects the cover, so that's good too.

its all good.

The one thing that was bothering me about making a new insert is the quality of the paper with the photo paper I have to check a couple of different weights of paper to see which works best

oh did I tell you I found a solid USB TV tuner on the cheap too?

Shipping speed is not an issue, and it's just a piece of plastic, so if I'm lucky, I'll get the thing shipped for free.

Ignorant shipping policies suck.
Just to let you know- I just ordered one of these & it said $16.00 for shipping but when I checked out the shipping dropped to $8.00 So total cost was $27 & change

Are these available in Canada? I can't seem to locate it on the Canadian site.
I'd like one for my m170.

just got my shield today.

in a word - beautiful.

seriously, this thing makes an already bada$$ xps even more bada$$.

if you have an xps/9300 buy one. now.

oh, and when you do, buy it from balthazar. i bought mine before i joined the forums from the dell outlet. i didn't know outlet meant used. there's a tiny scratch on the inside. no biggie but it still pisses me off. especially since i could have bought a new shield from bal for the same price as a used one.

anyway, buy one of these from bal now.

OK this is going to sound real dumb. Is the plastic cover removable or do you have to slide in the graphics? I got mine with my laptop but there were no instructions and it does not look like it is easy to remove so I have not used it.

don't worry bob, it took me a little while to figure out how to work it too.

here's what i found.

1. take off the protective plastic film on the front and back of the shield
2. insert any 8.5x11" sheet of photo paper (i printed my company logo on matte paper, for example)
3. press the two flat inserts onto the back of the monitor panel
4. push down on the curved end (the other end)
5. you should hear it start snapping into place. keep pushing until you don't hear any more snapping sounds.

there you go! i highly recommend you put it on right away; you won't regret it.
