Im getting really crappy signal strength at work using the WIFI card. Our WIFI router is b/g compatible. Our Network admin said i might get better signal if I can specifiy my connection to B only. How do I do this in xp pro?

Are you sure theres no way to do it on the computer connection itself? I think we have a Linksys router.

Once you are logged in you can change lots of things.
Not sure if its in there with the linksys but this is where i changed it at with my Neatgear! so it should be in there somewhere.

Had mine on 11 it sucked changed to 6 now its much better!

I could see how maybe changing the channel would make a difference but why would changing from G to B do anything? They both opperate on the 2.4Ghz frequency.

I dont know, but IT guy here said I might get a stronger, more stable connection on b....since Im having random drops and low signal strength with it the way it is. I read on AW forums that someone changed their WLAN settings to use the b band and it solved connection issues and possibly the jumpy mouse issue (has anyone else found a solution to having jumpy mouse problems, primarily when on WIFI??).

I just changes my wifi card settings to passive scan and it took care of my problem thanks to drew for that solution.

Here is the solution.
