Acer Aspire 5024WLMi Beep on Windows startup

Hi everyone,

I have a problem with may notebook. I have bought it a week ago, installed Windows XP Professional with all the needed drivers. Three days ago the problem with a single beep started. After my Windows load to the moment after "The Welcome Screen" and when I can choose which user will login, after pressing on the user's picture notebook gives a single loud and annoying beep. After I heard the beep for the first time I have restared my computer few times and there was no beep upon the startup. The second day when I turn on my notebook for the first time the beep sounded again. That day I turned on/off and restarted notebook for several times but there was no beep. And today again, upon the first startup there was a mysterious beep. Where is the problem? Could it be the problem with my windows installation or it could be a hardware issue? What should I do while my computer is still under warrenty? Should I wait to see wheater the problem will persist or should I return it and ask to replace it with a new one?

I posted to another thread on this recently... I get an error beep at startup, and also one as I shut down on my Acer 5672. I recently uninstalled "Launch Manager". I don't use the quick launch buttons, anyway...and the beep at startup went away. I still get the one at shutdown, though.

Anyway, it's evidently a problem several Acer owners are having...so it's either a problem with some of the Acer software (which is my guess) or a hardware issue... BUT...I haven't seen EVERYONE complain about this...so my guess is it's a software issue.

Unfortunately, that's all I can offer. I haven't been able to trace it any further.

(As a side note, I did have to bring my original 5672 back...had a dead pixel straight away...and I had this problem on both the old one, and on the replacement...so it's definitely an Acer issue.)
