e1505/x1400 bench? - Page 6

That happened to me once, never happened again.

What drivers are you using? I OC it to 550/440 and get about 2010 3Dmarks05
post #102 of 128
I'm using the latest Omega Drivers... 6.5, I believe. Removed the old ATI drivers and yada yada yada... Never did a clean install of MCE though...

You can OC your card to 550/440? If I OC my memory anything above 432, the laptop locks..

For me OCing the core up to 550/432 is still possible, but raising it to just 550/435 makes it lock, just an increase of 3!

Any clues on this?

i ran 3dmark05 with dell drivers and got 1820, the with omega drivers and got 1851, i OC'ed with powerstrip and got right at 2000 with core at 560 and memory at 396. (I couldn't change the memory clock for some reason, it would just sit there and do nothing after i told it to change the settings, any reason why it would do that?)

Strange... What OC tool are you using? Powerstrip 3.63?

yeah the powerstrip 3.63 build 540
when i try to clock the memory, it just stops responding, maybe it's because i've got the stock memory from dell

I don't know about that, but for me I can also bring the core to 560+, but can't increase the memory past 432, regardless of core.. locks everytime I try it.

Anyone here know what can be done?

My 3dmark05 scores are 1986 with my card OC'd at 560 core and 450 mem. I am using catlyst 6.1 drivers, i believe i could get a higher score with omega drivers or DHzer0point drivers.

Anyone have thoughts on this?

E1505, Core Duo 1.83ghz, WSXGA+, 1gb Memory DDR2 533MHz, 100gb 5400rpm, x1400
post #108 of 128
Also whether you download omega, ati, or DHzerpoint drivers, are they stand alone or do they work off of the catlyst center? I don't understand when they say its based of Catlyst 6.x etc.

I just got my new laptop (spec below) and ran becuase I dont have an XP disc, I cant do a clean install, but as you can see my laptop has high spec, but my 3dmark05 score appears to be very low - 1675 (catalyst set to all performance settings).

Is this a low stock score ? How come its so low, when my spec is alot higher than some other people - but they are getting higher stock scores than me ?

I have not had a chance to run any benchmarks yet, but I do have 1 question. Has anyone ran a benchmark with 533 memory, then changed nothing but the RAM to 667 sticks? Keep the number of sticks the same too, if you have 1 at 533, then put one in at 667. With the Hyper memory of the x1400 using 1/2 system RAM, I am wondering first, if this makes any difference without changing ANYTHING else at all, and 2) if you can then OC higher with powerstrip once you change to the 667 speed stuff.

I have 1G of 533, but would like 2G of 667 if it helps

Anyway, quickie specs on mine:

CoreDuo 2.0 T2500
x1400
80G 7200 rpm
85w battery (x2)
WSXGA+
etc

I just dont get it ! I've read all 8 pages of this thread, and plenty of people have been getting in the 1800's with a stock T2300/1GB RAM .

Why am I not even gettin 1700 with me T2500 / 2GB RAM ?

Have I not set it up right or sumthin ??

Make sure your using the latest catlyst drivers from dell or switch to omega, or preferrably Dhzeropoint drivers which yield the best performance gains. Also, when your running 3dmark05 close all other applications and programs such as anti-virus programs. If you can't do a re-install I suggest uninstalling all of your unwanted programs and then run disk defragmentor or PCsweep.

I just installed 2gigs of Corsair VS 667Mhz which replaced my stock dell ram of 1gig 533Mhz. My 3dmark05 score remains unchanged with a score of 2179. This is not surprising since the score has to do more with the limited potential of the x1400 and not system memory.
I i removed all the bloatware i didnt want, and defragged - it improved my 3dmark05 score by 2 !!!! YAY !!!! .....

Update : I am a verryy happy man. I just installed Omega drivers. And at stock settings (no OC) I got 1902 !

Which I'm pleased with. I notice in the Omega control panel you can choose loadsa different options of Anti-Aliasing and loads of other stuff. Setting this up right could improve my score still, without overclocking ? Also, I notice the control has a built in over-clocking feature. Can I use this instead of powerstrip ?

Cheers guys (sorry Im a total noob)

im only getting 30 points more with omega drivers on my x1400. is that normal? im kinda disappointed (look at sig for scores)
Well our specs are pretty much exactly the same, other than u have an extra 20GB HDD , and 1GB less of RAM.

Presuming the extra HDD space makes no difference( I have plenty space left and I guess you do too), it must be the extra gig of RAM that urs is lacking.

^^^Is the only explanation, unless systems with exactly the same spec can get different scores. I dont see why they would ? Can anyone shed light on this ?
Do the omega drivers overclock my card by default ? Is that why I get much better performance out of them ? Or are the clocks still run at default rates ?
i agree dell drivers are garbage for gaming, when you download Dhzeropoint drivers or omega they should include a catlyst center, so just download the latest version of whatever you pick
post #119 of 128
I don't seem to see much difference in speed between 6.5 DHZero or 6.5 Omega drivers. The Omega drivers did seem to enable more features of the x1400, but not sure why. I haven't been able to get the 6.6 ATI drivers to work correctly yet. Has anyone had success with 6.6? Any scores yet?

Hey all, I've been working on getting all the utilities to start OC'ing, but for some reason, I can't download 3Dmark. It's supposed to be 282 megs, but it stops at 174 and says the download is complete. The installer icon appears on the desktop but it won't launch, probably because it's missing 100MB of the file . I've tried using IE and different mirrors, and even trying it on my desktop, and the same thing happens. The desktop thing surprised me the most. Anyone else had any problems with this?

Cheers,
Jarrod
