Tiro- thanks so much. I don't want to void my warranty, can I call AW and ask them if i can do this? Should I say anything like "im not getting adequate wireless connectivity... is there an auxillary antennae i can hook up somehow?"

Shazza- thanks a lot for the rep. I'm really trying to help people out because they don't deserve to have a $4,000 laptop sit there and do nothing. Life isn't fair, but having a Alienware not work when it should simply can't be allowed.

Tiro ... all this and a movie too ?? this rox ...... i am going to get an atheros internal card .... i have tried several lappies within my house and the alienware with the intel pro 2200 gets less than acceptable reception..... actually the best reception i got was with an apple mac ...... their g4 power book .... the white papers on the atheros seems to me to be about the best that i can find in terms of technology ...... thanks you so very much ...

Tiro, et al...When I bought my TV tuner card, the directions had me connect a gray cable (antenae) to the card. In your last pic above, you can see it going under the black tape near the red wire on the left. Does your gray wire and this gray wire go to the same thing, the CATV input? I am wondering if the two cards could be switched around, and both wires are going to the same place. I would really hate to connect the wire as you suggest and then run the CATV and damage my internal wireless card.

Can anyone else shed some light?

there are 2 gray and 2 black cables for each the TV tuner and the wireless card

Funny thing you should bring that up Ref.... I called AW today and told them about me finding a guy @ NBF would apparently called AW TS and they had him connect both cables. The AW guy I talked with transferred me to TS and they told me the grey cable is for th TV tuner, and the black one is for the internal wireless card. I haven't opened mine up to confirm that there are 2 blacks and 2 greys.... the AW guy did not mention this to me this afternoon.

BFisch06, that's what I thought. My gues is there are two gray wires that lead to the CATV input. So no matter which slot you have the card in, there will be a connection to the CATV. Also, there are two balck wires that are for wireless antennae connections, again no matter which position you have the wireless card in, there is a connection to the antennae.
