AIM question

All of a sudden direct IM/send file on AIM is SLOW when i try and send people something but people can still send to me fast. I don't have any spyware.

This could be a problem with your ISP limiting the bandwidth on uploads.

yeah, most ISP's don't give you much for upload.

aim also limits upload speeds, no matter what ISP speed is.

i gave up on AIM a long time ago, too much crap...

my solution? google, trillian...its a great all in one, with mail checker!

to save on bandwidth they would throttle it down so more users can use it at the same time. instead of one user using FULL bandwidth doing large file transfers.

but how come i can still receive files quickly from people using opt online? Wouldn't their uploads be affected too?

but they dont have a different ISP, they use Opt online too...

then try a different computer in your house, your settings might be messed up on that machine.

my bro was complianing of the same thing on his computer. I called up opt online and they noticed that whenever i tried to do someting my signal dropped. they said it cud either be the modem or the router. So i connected directly to the modem and had the same problems so I'm going to replace the modem. Is this as easy as going to the store and buying a new modem and swapping or do I hafta register it or do somethin?

they said somethin about splitters which i kno notin about. I'm gonna try movin the modem to diff places and see if i get any better luck otherwise i'll hafta go to the walkin center to replace it
