Power Supply for the Area-51m

I received my system on the 16th. I ordered two batteries and two power supplies. I only received one power supply so I checked my bill and inventory list in the little black binder. It showed that I only ordered one power supply and I was only billed for one. So I'm thinking, "That's ok I'll just get on their web site and order one." I checked that day (the 16th) to see if they have them on their website. Sure enough, they have them for $50. I didn't order it right away. I actually waited until today to get on AW's website and order it. Well low and behold they don't have them on their website anymore?! I started to panic. If this power supply goes out on me I am screwed! The laptop will be useless unless I can get it repaired. So I called AW Sales and they transfered me to Tech Support (I don't know why). I talk to the Tech support guy and tell him I would have ordered this on the website but you guys apparently don't sell them anymore. The Sentia AC adapter is on there but not the Area-51m. He said he would check inventory and get back with me. About 1 minute later he comes back on the line and says that the Website has not been updated. They will put the power supplies back on the web page. So he took my order and will be sending it out tomorrow. Should receive it in 5 days.

So if you goto the AW website and don't see the Area-51m 160Watt Power Supply don't panic! Just call AW on the phone and they will take care it for you.

BTW the AW tech support guy was super nice. Very helpful.

The only power supply you should need in a laptop is the battery. You should never have to plug it in, at least that is what the Alienware rep told me when he sold me the laptop

This an Alienware Extreme, its not gonna run out of juice.

well if it is an extreme then it is running a P4 at 2.8 ghz or higher, not a mobile proc, so it would run out of juice FASTER than normal.

even the most efficient laptop batties run out of juice after just hours of use.
