Slow HDD performance 7k100?

Load times in HL2 are really slow on my 80gb 7k100. I never played HL2 on my previous 5400 rpm HDD, but to load to the main menu, it takes about 45-1 min, and to load up to a save pt takes another 30 seconds. I don't know if that is normal or if I just got a bad HDD. Drive has no fragmented files. Btw, are my temps normal in HL2 using 1920x1200 no AA trilinear and reflect world. I top out at 76C or 82C using nvidia temps. Non-oced with AS5. 3DScore is pretty low at 6662.

That 6662 doesn't seem to be too low, I scored a 6806.

Game loading speed means nothing nor does the 3DMark score. What you discribe seems quite a normal speed to me but if you think somethings wrong you should run some benchmark that can tell you HDD read\write speed in MB\s and not in some abstract points, as long as the speeds are close to your drive specifications you should be fine. Also checking HDD temp and scan drive for bad sectors would be a good idea. The first sign of a drive going bad is windows taking longer than normal to boot or/and BSOD. Perhaps you expect too much from 7200 drives compared to 5400.
