Macboko Pro - Screen quality?

I'm thinking of returning my Acer 8204 notebook for a MBP because its thinner and cooler looking. Just wondering is the LCD in the MBP bright and got good viewing angles?
It's lower res but apparently the 8204 screen is dire and the Macbook has a nice one.

The MBP screen is very nice. But it is shorter (fewer pixels vertically) than the 8204.

Well, the new MBP's are supposed to have the same brightness as the apple cinema displays. My PB is pretty bright on max brightness and usable on the minimum brightness.

I have both a MPB and a 20" ACD and I can attest that the screen brightness is similar. The lcd on the MBP is one of the best that I've seen in notebooks. I had a powerbook before the MBP and had to always have the lcd set to the highest brightness. On the MBP, the midpoint level of brightness is perfect.

Excellent news - thanks then MBP it is fellas. Its now officially the best windows notebook I reckon

Why is the resolution so poor on the Mac Book Pro? For a top of the line notebook I think there should be a better resolution option.

The screen is beautiful and as mentioned earlier, very bright.
It may be beautiful but the resoultion is poor, i'm used to working on a minimum of 1680 x 1050.

I guess Apple are keeping their costs down by targeting the basic computer user and hence their choice resolution.

I prefer the resolution of the MBP to 1680x1050 like the ACER 8204. I just sent the Acer back and have ordered a MBP - yay!

PC manufacturers need to wakeup and learn from Apple on how to build hardware without compromise.

Seriously, why the **** do people want to shove as many pixels into a 15.4 inch screen as possible? 1440x900 is comfortable, 1680x1050 is pushing it, and those people who want 1900x1200 in a 15 inch space...criminy. Talk about eye strain.

When OSs become resolution independent it would make sense but right now everything scales with the resolution of the screen and that just makes things smaller and smaller and smaller.
That's basically my view, 1440*900 is a nice res. also, it allows games to be run at full res for longer.

I have the WSXGA display on my new Alienware m5500 (15.4"). 1680x1050 takes some getting use to...it's okay, but I do think the 1440x900 would be ideal. (just my 2 cents)

Exactly! For the longest time, Apple kept a 100 PPI aspect to their monitors. My Powerbook has a 1280 x 854 resolution and it works perfectly fine.

This recent batch of higher res screens are okay, but pushing past that is just dumb. I don't need my text on screen to be incomprehensible two feet away.

I've been running 1680 x 1050 for over a year, it's great, I actually work on my laptop so appreciate the extra space on screen.

All i'm saying is that Apple should offer a choice and don't to keep their costs down.
as said, it may be more of an option w/ font and OS scaling in future OS versions.
Res doesnt make a difference to font scalnig, DPI does. And I tihnk OSX is fine with dealing with DPI.
OS X doesn't have an option to change the DPI unless you install the developer tools and even then it's not very good.

Oops, my bad. Sorry.
