MacBook Pro Questions...

I've been in the market for a Laptop for about 3 months now, looking at every single brand from Alienware to Acer. Every brand I saw in the Magazines I picked up I check out...

I saw the Macbook Pro on Apples website about 1 week ago and the featres seem like there the best for the money to me... (ATI X1600 Graphics, Core Duo 1.87, etc...) And Im in College right now so I can get the Student discount! I can get a MacBook Pro for $1799.99 shipped in stock form.

My Question is: I've heard rumors about being able to load windows into the new Processor, is this a "hacker" thing or can you get a program that lets you do that? If so can you still keep the Max OS on it too, and switch between Windows and OS?

Thanks, and what is your personnal opion on the Macbook? is it a good solid notebook?

Nope, no hacking required. Apple released their own official software, Boot Camp, still in beta but works nonetheless, that lets you install Windows alongside Mac OS X. You can't run both at the same time, but you can have both installed and choose which one you want to run upon start up. Installation is easy and simple too.

The MacBook Pro is a very nice computer and is even nicer now since you can install Windows natively. Yes, it is a very solid notebook and will keep it's value for a long time.

calculate taxes for the academic price. thru amazon u can get the stock 1.83 for $1849 flat, in all but 3 states after rebate. a lot of times w/ tax thru the academic price u end up paying ~$1900.

Thanks for the info... But when I put the notebook into my shopping cart @ Apple's website and went to the checkout mode to see the total cost it didn't add any taxes I dont think...

Oh Well, I Think Im gonna finance it through bestbuy anyway, lol

I think it shows the tax after you put the shipping address info. Then it calculates tax based on the state. I'm not sure how far you went.

I always BTO my (not always, just once), so amazon is out of the question.
