Curious about Asus Z83 - Page 2

thanks for the feedback
I received my Z83D and I think I'm suffering light leakage on the screen
I don't have a decent camera to show you people the amount of leakage i'm talking about but is definitely there
What should I do? (I am in the EU)
Is this common?
sirius could you report back about your screen?
thanks

my screen is absolutely perfect, best notebook screen I have ever had
fast (8ms ?), bright with hich contrast, very large viewing angle ( I'd guess 170°x170° )
It's even better than an expensive 19inch TFT I recently bought.

I think by "leakage" you mean an overly bright bottom frame? I don't have that...

Asus in Germany has a very good costumer service, phone them and tell them your problem. The number is in the garantie booklet. Asus offers a 30 day single pixel garantie, if you have a bad or dead pixel in the first 30 days you can have your notebook exchanged.

thanks for your immediate response sirius
I don't think I have any dead pixel, checked couple of times and everything seems ok as far as dead pixels are concerned.
I ordered the notebook from a German eshop but I don't live in Germany so German customer help won't be any useful to me

By "leakage" I mean that the screen is not evenly illuminated. The center bottom seems to be more bright
I remember seeing this in a dell thread (9300 if I'm correct) and is pretty much the same thing.

sirius can you post a picture of your screen?

mine is like this just only to the middle and about half the intensity
post #26 of 28
so it's a worse case than in your picture?

Mine doesn't do that at all.

Definitely phone the asus service in your country of residence and ask for a swap.
I think that would be quicker than sending it back to the german shop. Asus has a pick up an return service in germany. I'm pretty sure that goes for most eu countries.

Outside europe its a bring in service with offices in just about every country...

These are two pictures of my screen with one step difference in exposure

the quality is not good but this the best I can do for now
the image in reality is somewhere in the middle of those two

are these pictures of blach background with the highest possible brightness?
Try lowering the brightness and see if that helps...
