Sager 5710 and linux

Thread Starter
Hey guys...

I've had a lot of trouble finding a distro that works well with my new laptop. So far Mepis 3.4.3 has been the best, but sound didn't work in that one. SuSE didn't boot after the long install. Slax wouldn't boot and neither do most live CDs.

The first distro I tried was Ubuntu and when it gets to the point where it loads the hotplug subsystem, it just stops and never continues.

Are there any boot commands I can use to disable loading hotplug settings?

Also, Sager 5710 and 5720 owners, please let me know which distros you've had the best luck with...

Thanks in advance

UPDATE: (even though no one is paying attention to this thread)

I've installed Mandriva 2006 and it works PERFECT except for sound. I'm still playing with drivers. Wireless connected instantly after entering my WPA key. I ran the ATI driver installer, rebooted, and it came up in 1440x900. I brought it to work and discovered a security hole in our wireless network yesterday so it's already paid itself off...

I actually might return this laptop. I only got it because it was the only 17" with a Radeon X700 that I could find for the price I paid.

Being that I already have a gaming beast desktop, I think I rather have a Media Center laptop.

I'll be posting another thread when I get my new laptop...
