Hi! Nice pics. Do post a mini review.

How are the noise? Do the FAN(s) run often?

Are there more than one fan?

thanks!

There is one fan wich is located on the upper left corner (over the ESC key)and it get really noisy when playing games and or running an application wich demand a lot of power. It makes more noise than my current PC! Thats one negative thing I found.

Yep. The battery does last long. Basic computing (surfing the net etc..) last about 2h20min. Gaming, 1h35min ~ 1h50min.

I think your memory might conk out after awhile. I've heard of this unit killing memory chips.

really?

Well, we'll see

I hope not

you should post the 3dmarks 2001 bench mark!!
Post the 3dmark03 benchmark too...most other people in these forums are using that, so it would be great for comparisons.

Benchmark result!

note: for the benchmark I used the latest Omega video card driver (catalyse 4.1) with the default video setting wich is "balance" mode. In the benchmark I aslo used default setting (1024x768x32)

hey cuz6 do you find the screen has ghosting??
Yo bud, I"m with Nine. No offense to anyone but who gives a rats ass about the 3dmark number's. Does anyone honestly think the difference between this and any other system whose 3d performance is based on the 9600 system is going to be ANY different? They're going to be within 5% of the other 9600 systems as in this ITERATION OF CPU'S AND MOBILE CPU'S, it's GPU limited. Any difference between one system with an ATI 9600 and another is mariginal at MOST...or is the result of some overclocking. This infatuation with 3dmark scores is understandable but among the same GPU it is freaken preposterous. I've been in the game since the Voodoo SLI days and it seems like people like to throw out these numbers for whatever reason... Sorry didn't mean to sound like an old codger but it seems like such things as screen quality relative to it's competitors is such a non-issue when in fact lcd quality is just about the SINGLE UNKNOWN when buying a laptop nowadays and probably the most important issue.

That said, tell us about the ghosting issue. I had heard that ECS 736 was a 50 ms screen. To some that may be "fine and clear" but to me that' unacceptable. Let me know. Just like my Toshiba CASV S119 befoer the current 8600 I own now...if there's something better for the price I'm all over it.

Do you mean that the CASV screens have a slow response time and show a lot of ghosting?

Well it's my first laptop so I'm not an expert but for the screen response time it's sometime a little ghosting in games like COD but in battlefield 1942 I dont see anything different.I think the real "test" would be in Unreal tournament 2003. I'm gona try it tomorow.

No, quite the opposite. I just reread my comment on the S119 and it may be construed that it was a worse screen. It's in fact a better screen but I was giving up too much to have it: battery life, ATI 9600, weight.

I have the Samsung WSXGA+ now in my 8600. With the configuration price I got it gave me everything I wanted with the least amount of sacrafice in screen quality.

Glad to hear. Why don't you try UT2004?

Edit: How much did this thing cost ya?

I just got my G736 today from NCIX computers in Vancouver. I only paid $2200 with tax and shipping for mine though but I got a 40 gig toshiba drive with 15MB cache and a 2.8HT instead of the 3.0. The ram was back ordered though so I can't use it yet! Hopefully it will get here this week. I installed the CPU and hard drive though so it's all ready to go. I will post me thoughts when I can actually use the thing.
