btw.. I've configured it for as low as $1,349.00

Not buying one as my current 9300 setup will still blow it away but a great price for anyone looking to purchase a new laptop for gaming.

Sell the 2.0Ghz CPU and the 2 512Mb ram modules on ebay and replace it all with a pinmodded 1.8 running at 2.4Ghz and 2Gig from Newegg and its a rocking system! Also note that it wouldn't cost anything for this upgrade since you'd sell the ram and 2GHz CPU for enough to pay for the replacement hardware.

An XPS M170 with a 2.4Ghz CPU, 7800GTX, 2Gig RAM DVD-RW etc.. for $1,349.00

Yup yup!

I'll keep my 9300 for another year before I replace it. I figure at that time Dell will have a dual core 8200GTX-XXX 1Gig SLI setup squeezed into a 17" laptop thats 4 1/2 pounds and has 10 hours battery life

Well maybe not quite but you know what I mean

-----------------------------
Inspiron 9300 | Pentium M 2.4Ghz | 2GB DDR2-533 4-2-2-6 | GeForce Go 6800 Ultra | 17" WUXGA Samsung K9922@ 65Hz| 100GB Fujitsu 5400rpm | Intel 2200BG | Philips Aurilium PSC805 | 200GB Maxtor 7200rpm Firewire | Logitech G5 | Windows XP Pro SP2 | $1093.20+tax

Why do you envy them? Its the same thing as your 9300 can be with the ONLY exception being the gigabite port and LEDs. If you want basically the same thing sell your 6800 Ultra (this is what your sig says) and buy a 7800GTX for 355.00. You should be ablew to get about 200.00 bucks for the ultra so its only gonna cost you 150.00 bucks.

As for the money bit.. XPS systems have 18 months interest free payments! Thats about 80.00 bucks a month. Any teenager with a parttime job could pay that .. hell I used to spend that on a weekend partying back in my younger days

Whoooohoooooo!!!

Txs for this post gang! I been checking dell deals looking for a laptop for my wife, as you can see in my sig I got the 9300 modded up, but when I read this I went to check it out and sure enough, I got it down to $1349 plus tax Now is just a matter of waiting for it...
I'll just give my 9300 to my wife but I will put the 2 gigs of ram in my soon to get here XPS.
With that said, I think I could just swap the hard drives before I even power up the XPS for the first time right? I mean they identical 60GB disks, I will then power up virgin disk from XPS on the 9300 and remove the crap the dell shoves in there except for what's really usefull...
I was wondering about the service tag, I just got to keep in mind that the tags are switched
Thanks guys!!

Just don't be angry when Dell comes out with the new Inspiron XPS days from now.

Pixelss, click Piemaster's UNDERLINED link and put every option on its cheapest setting.

Thats cool with me. DC does not help much. I own an Opteron 165@2.6 FX-60 speeds and really I could get buy with a single core for now. A Pentium M @2.4GHZ, 7800GTX and 2GB of ram will do nice.

Hello everybody. This is my first post, but I've been reading this forum for past 3-4 months.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
I am ready to by M170, and the only thing that stops me is the warranty. As I see everybody downgrading the options to min. including warranty to 1 year. I would like to have a 3 years warranty. Is it worth an extra $260? How reliable is this notebook? I'm guessing it was on the market for more than a year. Please comment.<o></o>
Thanks.

You should read some more about the reliability and the reviews this notebook has. There's a problem with the lid of the XPS scratching, but I personally don't think that's worth too much attention. Keep reading around, and look at the reviews on the build quality + the reliability of this laptop.

Congrats everybody who made their purchases. I REALLY want to make it soon.
