Short 4780 Review

My 4780 Arrived Today, this is more of a short picture review than anything.
The screen on the 4780 is amazing! I would say even better than the 5680's UGXA Wide Angle!
Here's a picture of my 5680 and 4780 next to each other!

The screen is very clear and bright!

The angles on the 4780 are pretty nice as well!

The keyboard of the 4780 seems to be of much better quality than the 5680! Very solid! The entire system is a very well built!

I have found the TV tuner to be rather worthless, as well as the built in camera, unless you are in direct light, the camera is pretty well worthless

I've read other reviews which complain about heat and fan noise, I must have been fortunate to get a system that doesn't seem to have that problem! I played Halo for about 2 hours earlier, (at 1440x900 resolution!) and the heat output and fan usage was actually less than I would have expected!

HALO!

Sound on this machine is the best i've heard for laptop speakers (of course there was quite a bit of tweaking to get it to sound right!) The extra 2 speakers and the subwoofer do produce decent sound, but nothing beats a good set of headphones!

Watching DVD's on this thing is great! The widescreen accomodates nicely (of course by design!) Games, web browsing, and photoshop run great in widescreen! No complaints here!
PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN!!!

All in all I am very happy with my purchase! Any people on the fence about buying a 4780 should really not hesitate! You would not be dissappointed!

If i can think of anything else to put here I will!

If the TV tuner is worthless - can you remove it - just to save some heat - and is there anything else you can stuff in its place

No idea... I'm not going to mess with it, because heat and weight are more than acceptable, so it's really not bugging me too terribly.

Glad you are happy with your machine.
I am very happy with mine too.

Sorry about your Jim.

Nice review and thanks for the pics. Wow - a 5680 AND a 4780! You have the best of BOTH worlds!

What other games are you running and have you had any issues running them in widescreen resolution?

Hi Captain (and Jim),

I was wondering if you could comment on how the 4780 compares to the Gateway M675 (if you considered this during your purchasing decision).

I'm very close to buying one of these notebooks and am finding it hard to decide which way to go.

Any info you can provide would be sincerely appreciated!

I have been playing Eve Online (cool MMOG Space Sim!) Looks pretty nice on the 4780, the game is designed to fit wide screens!

I have yet to try Star Wars Galaxies and DAoC.
I probably will this afternoon.
