What temp is your Acer 5672 running?

I just want to compare the temperature of my Acer 5672 to others to see whether mine's running too hot.

Right now my power brick is plugged in and my CPU is running at an astounding 56 Celcius, and my HD is at 51 Celcius.

Sounds a bit crazy to me!

Mine is 43 HD and 53 CPU - on battery in "Word Processing" mode.

Mine consistently run at 55+ CPU and Hard Drive hovering around 50. At one point the CPU went over 60.

Just wondering what the "norm" is... and what is considered "too hot".
CPU is at 55c and HD at 45c , guess its the norm but considering a lapcool2. I miss my Thermalright+Panaflo desktop that ran at 30c.
how do you find out the temperature without going into bios? I used to use aida32 on my old laptop, but it's not showing a temp sensor on this model.

Here's a cool little Beta program for checking Core Duo temps.

Get it here.

sorry for the uncropped pic. Still only have paint on here.

Is this too hot?

right now core #1 and 2 are higher! 65C
Is that under full load, or idle?

If idle, that very hot!
idle. It's been on about 4 hrs. Just online surfing and looking up tech stuff for this thing.

it seems pretty damn hot that's for sure! I'd hate to take it back to compusa (bought it saturday) because for the money it seems to be a great box, but I don't want it to suffer a premature death.

sux. Will try a laptop cooler first I think.
What is the room temp? Is it on a desk or in your lap? Cause if i have mine in my lap for awhile without good ventilation for the fan on the underside it will get warm as well.
i have a lapcool 2 temps stay around 39c - 45c
post #12 of 20
on my lap. I've raised it off my lap a bit and it's cooled down to 54/50. I can't imagine how hot it would get running a graphics prog or game.

My old toshiba had a linux fan utility that ran under windows to keep the fan always on. It worked well unless it was really hot.

The temp is around 81 degs in this room right now.

I just orded the blue laptop cool2 because it's usb powered. Thanks for the recommendation!
That sounds about right. With room temps that hot, and extended use these things get really hot. That is one of the gripes on this thing is the fact that it runs very warm. The lapcool will help, but doesn't sound like there's anything wrong with your notebook. Hope that takes care of the problem for you.
thanks sucka. I really do love this laptop. I sure hope the laptop cooler cures the problem.

I was thinking of trading it for a satellite P105-s6014 from compusa, but the specs don't look as good. although the sat has a 160gb hd. My 5674 came from compusa and it had 2GB of ram intalled.

Don't know abut the satellite graphics card though >

Do you know which store sells lapcool cheaper?
I ordered it from Overcool. Only $29.95 including shipping:

I called Vantec support and it's the same dimensions/cooling as the black lapcool2 with ac power.

They have 2 others more expensive ones:

Hard to say by the picture, but the cool 4 looks like it has larger fans:

Yup these things are hot. Here's just an idea. It's 96F just with a probe resting under it. Now that is uncomfortable!

with ebay laptop cooler flipped around im getting 42/43C according to that CPU Temp thing for the Coreduo.

as you can see the 2 fans are underneath the palm rest approx, so the touchpad, HDD and PCMCIA slot dont get very hot, the single fan near the back doesnt interfear with the CPU fan intake since its on the back right hand side close to the back space button.

also i get a cool breeze from the laptop cooler and i dont have an anoying super bright blue led in my face.

if you are going to flip it around you will need to go to homedepot to get those Vinyl bumpers that they use on cabinet doors, the rubber dome things and stick some on the cooling pad near the LED's cuz the acer5672 is actually bigger than the pad itself

Now that the temperature is getting warmer here, the HDD temp on my machine is up to 50 C. That's what worries me, not the CPU temp. And yet the stupid freaking fan never turns on unless the CPU temp > 55 C.
