I don't consider you a traitor. Ever since I saw the announcement of Boot Camp, I've been considering the same thing. I think Apple makes pretty good hardware... don't care much for Apple software, but then, I've never used it. However, right now if you want to evaluate both, Apple is your only option. Right now, no one can match the form factor of the Macbook Pro and the other specs aren't bad either.

Keep in mind that you don't have the add-ons available like you do for a Dell. There are pros and cons both ways and I hope you are happy with your decision.

For me, I've got a D820 on order and I think (hope) it will be more appropriate for my particular needs.

I continue to watch the migration from Windows laptops to the MBP (now that they released Boot Camp) with great interest.

lol

I would never get a notebook to play games, I have a xbox for that when i want to. Iam a professional, I use my computer forr music Production/Engineering and Web design and Advanced photoshop designing along with the normal web, sharing, email, cataloging etc....The macbooks are overpriced yes, But if you do it as a small business like myself, I write it off next year, plus with time it will pay for it self....Now if this was for a hobby then yes, it is too expensive but even then, I would consider a Imac or macmini at the very least to have to dual boot with bootcamp.

its ok, Id buy an apple too if:

the macbook pro was in a 17" format
it was as fast as the E1705
it was only $200 more than a E1705

So i guess that means I will never own a macbook. how sad.

I just want to pat myself on the back for making this prediction when apple announced intel dual core, never thinking about running windows on the same machine. Now, except for gamers, there is no reason to get anything but apple. I can (hopefully soon) run avid and final cut pro on the same machine. whoopee!

edit
I take it all back:

you could have bought 3 modest e1505s for that price...I could never justify that much money for looks.

I don't post often, and am still very new here, but I just don't see the point in going to a DELL FORUM to say "BOOTCAMP = No need for a Dell!!!!"

I know you're excited about bootcamp, chief, but don't expect high fives and chest bumps from a DELL FORUM.

I'm always happy when folks find a solution they appreciate. That said, I'm not joining you in the Apple camp. If you like their hardware and the update and innovation schedule (slow) of that hardware more power to you.

I'll take a 1710 over that any day.

Still glad you are getting what you want

It will, they're calling it Vista apparently.
I read a thread somewhere of an individual who had the Mac OS and Windows installed on a normal PC, so you dont necessarily need Bootcamp to enjoy both OS'.
I believe that was with the older (not tiger) version of OS X that was dual booted on a PC.

It is nice how easy you can dual boot on a mac now, I doubt MS would ever try to do such a thing.
You doubt MS would do what kind of thing?

They want Windows running on Apple hardware, just like they want it running everywhere else. No one is more happy about this than MS.
It's very easy to dual boot off of windows.

wow if the macbook pro wasnt twice the price of my E1505 for virtually the same hardware then mabye, just mabye, I would get one.
