Catalyst error for Ferrari 4005

There appears too be an error in the mobility catalyst drivers (at least on my laptop). When the computer goes in standby and you try to bring it back to life there is a BSOD with the following stop message. STOP: 0x1000007E (0xc000001D, 0x00000007, 0xF7B03C80, 0xF7B0397C).

When debugging the dump file that is created I came upon the following:

BugCheck 1000007E, {c000001d, 7, f7b03c80, f7b0397c}

Unable to load image ati2mtag.sys, Win32 error 2
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for ati2mtag.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for ati2mtag.sys
Probably caused by : ati2mtag.sys ( ati2mtag+cc38a )

Does anyone else have this error?

So am I to guess that I'm the only one that has this?

Well I'm downloading Catalyst 6.4 and I'll let you know if the error still exists with that version.

If anyone cares the problem has been fixed in Catalyst 6.4

Did you install Catalyst 6.4 or Mobile Catalyst 6.4, and how?

Thank you

mobile catalyst. Search the forum for the link. It has been posted countless times.

As to how I installed:
1. Uninstall previous Drivers, CCC, ATI Software Uninstal Utility
2. Run Driver Cleaner
3. Run Driver Cleaner in Safe mode (optional)
4. Run the executable that you have downloaded.

Thanks, I know the link:

http://www.ati.com/online/mobilecatalyst/

it yielded this:

6-4-mobile_xp_dd_ccc_enu_31490.exe

although on another forum I read this that I should download

6-4_xp-2k_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_31959.exe <- desktop version

and then run this mobility modder DHmodtool3.exe (http://www.driverheaven.net/patje/).

Well, with your recommendation I will use driver cleaner before installing any of those.

I just can't understand why won't manufacturers (ATI and NVIDIA) and makers (ACER, ...) agree and make a common unified driver for all. Like NVIDIA does for the desktop graphic boards. I mean, I've had a Riva TNT2, a Geforce2 GTS, a Geforce4 Ti 4600 and now a Geforce 6650 and they all update the same way.

TIA.
