What do you think about the Precision M90?

Thread Starter
I sold my XPS g2 about a week ago, and I'm waiting for the new XPS lappys to shoe up. Right now I'm using my D800 as a stand in. Yesturday, I was looking at the new M90 and it looks pretty cool. Does it really have a 512mb video card? How does this setup compare to the new XPS?

Thanks,

Sean

Quadro is Opengl focused and will not be "quite" as fast clock for clock as a 7900 even though they are based on the same general hardware. For those who can't wait for the 1710, the M90 has provided an outlet for purchasing fury

Another thread is commenting on the docking station as a nice feature of the M90. 1710 "should" be out very soon, perhaps on the 11th if you want to wait a tiny bit to have the option of either.

the quadro should have identical performance (in direct X) clock for clock as a 7900GTX, and better performance in opengl. the 7900GTX may or may not be clocked higher than the quadro 2500.
Yes, it really is 512MB

Ut gives the D-dock docking bay ability, but will probably cost at least 10% more than the xps

Looking at the specs, it appears to be almost identical to what the M1710 is going to be like. Seeing the price, I would be surprised if the XPS isn't around there. You can get the base system for a little over $2000.

The Quadro is more or less the same thing as the 7900; and should offer about the same performance for gaming, and better in business apps.

What do you think the power consumption on the go7900gtx would be compared to the quadro 2500?

Actually the M1710 and M90 share the exact same chassis, however, the XPS will be silver with a panel on the lid for a quicksnap color panel of sorts....Don't know what colors they'll be in, but they did show black and a brilliant red in the new DCSE materials. So it looks like no more black as the primary color for the XPS. Both the 1710 and M90 will support the DDock and DPort which is freaking awesome IMO. Now you can use your XPS with the 24" or 30" flat panel LCD when it's at home.
