DVD writing speed

hEY, the dvd writer on my E1505 is burning at 2.4x max. Can anyone see the problem here. I used a Memorax 8X dvd+r.
I remember using the same set of dvds on my friends computer and it burned at 8x.
The writer on my laptop is a Sony DW-Q58A.

Any solutions/advices/comments?

Also I ran Super Pi again today and the time went down from 1m19s to 1m13s.
This thing keeps getting better!!!

see if there is updated firmware for the burner.... sometimes they can't recognise new high speed media without new firmware....

Hope that fixes it for you.
