to some degree it depends on how much you spent..... $235 is a lot for a warranty if you spent $800 on the machine.... if you spend 2k on the machine, suddenly $235 to protect it doesnt sound like so much.....
I posted this in another thread, but here's my personal experience with my dell warranty.
Well, my upgraded warranty has already more than paid for itself... I got a 4 year complete care on my I8600 which is about 2 years 4 months old now, and so far I've gotten my WUXGA screen replaced, my 9 cell battery replaced, and my 4x DVD+R burner replaced with an 8x DVD+/- RW DL drive.
The warranty (vs a 1 year ship it back) cost me approximately $150 (EPP, it changed my % back and my MIRs). And I have gotten $229 (dvd burner dell list price) $149 (battery dell list price) and $400 (lcd quick froogle)
By the way, only the battery of all the above died in the first year. Nothing about the system has been abused (in fact I pamper the thing).
So anyway, the extended warranty has certainly paid off for me. The only reason I'd get a dell laptop and not get an extended complete care warranty would be if I were so rich I were planning to throw away the laptop after less than a year. I doubt I'd ever do that, since there would always be someone looking to get an upgrade.... (friend or whatever) and if I were so rich as to be replacing it, I might as well get the waranty too, since it's only money
