In answer to jjfcpa:
1) I think the fit/finsh is excellent, it looks and feels professional and solid - see below
2) Weight is better than my Inspiron 8500, same form factor - I am pleased with it (I do not know the 810)
3) I am pleased with the LCD brightness - I can not stand the glossy screens though.
4) The trackpoint is EXCELLENT, the keyboard is a little bit mushy, but I do not find it objectionable at all.

Thanks for your answers to my questions. I'm looking forward to getting mine in the next couple of weeks. Maybe sooner.

This is a better picture than I could take...

There are 3 buttons to the left of the power button -- mute, vol up, and vol down.

In the pic in the link, if you look to the right of the lefthand side hinge, theres a little box, no bigger than 3/16" square. What's that? [It's more noticable on the image of the 620 http://www.dell.com/downloads/global...t_d620_300.jpg ] (Almost looks like an integrated webcam, but wouldn't it be in the specs?

It looks like theres no place to put LED's in either. Darn

And the silver on the bottom of the case appears to be metal, what pieces of the case are metal and what pieces are plastic?

The little square box to the right of the left-hand hinge is an ambient light sensor that (if you put the screen brigthness on "auto") adjusts the LCD brightness based on the ambient light in the room.

I think the whole case (top and bottom) is metal, but I could easily be wrong.

HAHA! Yeah, that's the first thing I'll be changing. I hate when the computer thinks for me. Like freaking windows update, if you dont install it when it wants, it'll do it anyway, then it bugs the crap out of you, "wanna restart", "no". 10 mins later, "wanna restart?" and then if you ignore it long enough it restarts anyway, losing all stuff you havent saved. I hate windows sometimes

I just realized that my D820 is in boxing... I think I may get it next week since I ordered it next day delivery.

I have to assume they were waiting for some part and all of a sudden it showed up.

Do you really need to re-install? Dell doesn't put much junk on the Latitudes. What have you found to be crapware that they already installed?

My D620 shows "out for delivery" this morning - Pretty quick considering I re-ordered on the 14th. (I originally ordered the nVidia card).

Ronin, if you're out there, any update from Balth'zar about your D620? What will you do if the order is cancelled; i.e. change to D820 or wait until June/July for a revised nVidia card?

My D820 is scheduled for delivery today. I changed up a few things on my D820 order last Saturday and started the whole build stage over. What is amazing is that according to UPS my laptop arrived in Nashville yesterday and is already near Houston this morning. I got the free 3-5 day shipping too!

Just received my D620
Build quality is really nice; better than my previous IBM R31.
The WXGA panel is just fine; I'll be playing Die Hard later to see how the GMA handles dvds. The processor is much faster than previous IBM processor; the extra 1/2 gb ram from Newegg was supposed to arrive today but hasn't shown yet, so not sure how that will improve/change video response/web browsing response.

Couple issues:
1. Left side runs pretty warm, not sure how long I can keep on my lap - anyone else have this issue/concern? Any idea how I can measure the temp for this?
2. Light leakage on bottom of lcd; however, it does not bother me one bit.
