Bah...it seems some versions of the game uses a prioprietary wide character set that is neither compatible with Unicode nor with ASCII sets...I am getting strange characters with mine. I guess I will have to shell out more money for a Unicode compliant one.

Deltawalker you are forgetting that Quest was (is) the first Collectible Computer Game (CCG). Check the holographic imprint on the CD that is giving you the trouble--I'm sure you'll see either a pink elephant hologram with an English or a Japanese R (well the kanji R--you know what I mean).

It sounds like you have the rare Sam the Pink Elephant version of the second disk--totallly killer! I think if you check ebay you'll find that it is going for $150 to $200.

Have to admit--I'm a little envious. I"ve bought five copies of the game and I've only found two uncommon CDs--both the same uncommon (I have the Uncommon CD #1 --the one with Peter the Penguin on the label and the extra Ice Age level).

Anyway, Congrats!

Kanji R? You mean the Hiragana or the Katakana R right?

It is in very short supply, you can only get it from electronic boutique, and only if you know...the code. Which I can't tell you. Sorry.

And the Shark is....no wait...no...no...yes..no..yes...YES! the Shark is jumping!

P.S. I just want to say that I am a huge SpongeBob fan
P.P.S. And that yours was the funniest, subtlest joke in the whole thread.

I didn't think it'd work on my Sony 700mhz VAIO, but I was so jealous I tried anyway. The first thing it did was uninstall my OS. I hope that's part of the game. What do I do next?

Well, after uninstalling the OS, it asks you to remove the harddrive. Did you follow those instructions? The game runs faster, and the machine runs cooler without it

IGNORE TDEWEY, HE IS TRYING TO TRICK YOU! Uninstalling your OS is NOT a part of QfrC, of course - he MADE THAT UP! Instead, FriedToast, it's obvious you tried to download a cracked version from Kazaa but -- oh no -- it damaged your system! You got what you deserved. Piracy is NOT OK, especially when the game is really good and worth spending money on, as is Quest for the Crown.

Guys I just beat the game. It took me 342 hours 13 minutes and 4 sec. I completed all the side quest, even the one where you had to look for the princesses underwear. I also went back and beat it again on game+ mode. That was another 124 hours of play.

I'm selling my copy of the game. The game comes on a 10 DVD set with 6 instilations disks and 4 play disks. The disks all have the hologram of the pink dancing elephant with and it is compatiable with english, french, german, japanise and egyptian hyroglyphic languages.

The starting bid is $666.66

The game's minum requirments:
Keyboard
Mouse
Monitor
Cray super computer (liquid nitrogen cooled)

SERIOUS BIDDERS ONLY!!!!

I'm interested--but only if it is the one with the 24-bit pink dancing elephant hologram, not the 18-bit dithered pink dancing elephant hologram. Can you check?

Thanks

It is the 24-bit hologram. NOTE: if your eyes are only 18-bit you won't see a diffrence between the two.

If you want to bid i take paypal or any major credit card. I'll need your personal information, a copy of your fingerprints, a blood test, urine test, DNA sequence, a retina scan and a letter from your mommy.

This looks good

It was hard but now I have got the game running on my triple monitor set. I reprogrammed the remote control that came with my TV-tuner and together with my gyroscopic mouse I can play the game while in bed. after 215 hours in bed I had to get out because I was developping a terrible itch and neighbours started to complain about smelling something.

This all comes with the game I guess

You guys also know about the 18bit dithering situation? I wonder if you've seem some of my other threads...

ANyway rumors of an expension pack are well-founded...seeing how the game doesn't resolve all the conflicts just yet.

They say 2005 but I wouldn't hold my breath. It'll most likely be delayed -- games of this caliber usually are (Half-Life 2 for example).

I heard the 2005 version is going to use a entirely new engine based on DX11.

BTW, isn't it time for you to upgrade to C++GameProgrammer? I mean all the structured coding must get tiresome after a while.

I use C++. My name's supposed to look like a C++ class name. You know, CObject, CString, CGameProgrammer.
