old/dead tablet PC as a graphics tablet

Okay heres the deal. I do TONNEs of sketching in notebooks and whatnot but find it amazingly hard to colour properly, but in photoshop I am less than good with the drawing side of things but am quite good a colouring and shading. So as I saw the drop in price in Wacom graphics tablets I considered buying one and getting the best of both worlds BUT it struck me that drawing as if one a page but looking at your screen REALLY screws me over, I just can't co-ordinate myyself properly like that so an idea came to me. What if I got an old or dead tablet pc for cheap and somehow just made that as basically a secondary monitor. Would that work? does anyone have any suggestions as to where to find dead pcs or old tablets...

thoughts commments appreciated

Not possible (or atleast not practical) as far as I know. You'd have to somehow rewire the LCD in the tablet to connect to a regular video card. That does not even include the touch functionality. Not even sure how one would go about doing it.

Good idea however.
