I'm having a serious issue with my z70va that started more or less out of the blue. The problem is similar to the one had by Sally.Jones in a thread not far down (link).
More often than not my machine will turn on but nothing will come on the screen. No BIOS, nothing. The fan will go full blast for a couple of seconds initially but will then fall back to a "normal" speed. The HD light will come on usually for about 10 seconds or so and then go dim, though there is no HD noise that I can hear. At this point, the system will just sit there with no activity at all. The fan might kick back in if I leave for 10 or 15 minutes like this.
What is odd though is that sometimes the bootup will succeed--or at least start to. The BIOS screen will come on (and notable report nothing wrong), and simply lock up somewhere during the checks and not progress any further. Other times it will even get as far as the Windows login before locking up. I even managed to log in twice since this started. Every time that I try to use Windows though (on those occasions it gets that far) Windows is always ridiculously slow. When it fails though it always does so in the same manner--the HD light will come on solid for a few second (without audible HD activity) and then the machine will just lock up completely (the HD light eventually goes off).
I've tried everything I can think of. I've hit the reset button on the bottom, started up the machine with everything removed and the results are always the same. I ordered the machine in August from ISTNC and I've emailed them via their support address, though I've not heard back from them yet. Any help at this point would be greatly appreciated.
