Life?!?!?!? I guess you didn't read the fine print of your Forum Moderator's contract. Once accepted as forum moderator, your life as you know it ends, utterly, completely, irrevocably!!! Your sole reason for existence is to service the needs of Dell notebook owners 24/7/365. Divorce the wife...sell the kids for medical experiments or to traveling gypsies...board up the windows...deadbolt every door (you're allowed to install a 2x2 foot sliding metal plate in one door to receive pizza deliveries and Dell's monthly catalog)...buy at least ten APS power backup systems...invest in a comfortable chair...and get busy with our issues!!!

From this day forward, your path is clear...

Can't help but add to this thread.

That fan controlling program is a real nice add-on for a Dell.
Worked beautifully on my Inspiron 4000. I left the fan on constant on when on AC because the noise of it didn't really bother me and kept the laptop running MUCH cooler.

Just upgraded my 2100b mini pci wireless to the 1300 b/g True mobile mini pci wireless Lan,pretty simple and no problems..saw a big jump in performance on the net, used to have lag time loading web pages but not anymore..The 1300 keeps the signal at max anywhere in the house upstairs and down even outside on the deck or the basement, signal remains excellent,I still have the netgear b router but will upgrade to the g router in the future ,but with the gain I received will not rush to buy quite yet....(Cost with discount and free shipping $44.00)

Specs 8600 1.7
128Nvidia 5650 FxGo
768MB 333DDR
60 Gig Hd
15.4 WSXGA+(Samsung)
1300 b/g Wireless
4xDVDR+RW
Owned system since mid November no problems at all....

Yo, D-M!

Any idea if we'll be able to upgrade the 8600 to the ATI 9700 or 9800?
