Maintenance

Just wondering what types of things you all do for maintenance of your computer. I just got an XPS 140, and I'm looking toward making it last for a few years. Also, what type of temp. monitoring do you guys use? Thanks in advance. I'm pretty new to all this.

The only maintenance I've done are defragmenting the HDD once in a while and blowing out the dust on the bottom of the laptop with a can of compressed air. Otherwise, my laptop has been stable with no hiccups since I bought it last year in September.

Notebook Hardware Control is good for monitoring temps.

Interesting choice. Seems it might be a good tool to see what's happening with the innards. But use cautiously with any optional settings.

NHC is a good program to check up on some of the internal workings. Some on this forum even use it to undervolt.

As for maintenance clean the screen occasionally (there's a thread in here somewhere on how to do it properly, do a search), blow out the air vents and keyboard. As for programs check out the Dell FAQ thread. It's stickied in this section. It has the answers to a lot of questions and has some good programs to check out.
