Lost in shipment...DHL - Page 2

and that is exactly why I would push for an upgraded unit.
I don;t know how they can issue you a refurb unit as a replacement of a NEW system and call is comparable.

Ahh.. Poohy

Ok, so I got my new machine specs. Basically from what I see the major changes I'm getting are:

After:
Inspiron 9300
Windows MCE2005
Pentium M Dothan, 740
9 Cell Battery
80gig Hard Drive
1gig of Ram

Before:
Inspiron 9300
Windows XP Home
Penium M Dothan, 1.6
6 Cell Battery
60gig Hard Drive
512 Ram

I guess they took care of me considering I still have the other hard drive that I can scratch and sell or keep. Plus I got a 9 Cell battery for a much longer run time. What do you guys think? Is that a pretty good re-imbursment? I didn't get a vid card upgrade so I'm still looking to get one, preferably a 6800go. Thanks.

DHL is horrible. I've waited for a package from them for 3 days now. They have no idea if they have it or if it was misdelivered. The "service" rep even stated that they are having severe customer service issues right now. I appreciate the honesty I suppose, but I'll never use them. Does Dell require a certain shipper when sending computers to them for repair?
Not when sending to them, but they insist on DHL when sending back to you. I was one of those local Dell contracted repair techs last year for a short time. DHL would screw over even the Techs quite often. Very disorganized company. They seem to operate mostly on non-company employees. They use contracted workers and companies to do most of their work. The people who do their deliveries here, although in DHL uniforms, are just some other logistics company. That's what happens when you buy out a worthless delivery company, a la Airborne Express.

I have to wonder if Dell is stuck in some kind of contract with DHL / Airborne, because even Compaq / HP will use FedEx. For the volume of packages moved, DHL really is horrific.

So I picked up my package from FedEx and you'll never guess. It is refurbished model plus it's missing the cover for the PC Slot and the DVI connector in the back looks old and yellow. On top of that there is a big refurbished sticker on the bottom of the lappy. Having this sticker on the bottom in the first place is crazy because my original was not built from old parts. This is really pissing me off. My machine was brand new everything was there all the connectors were clean not even close to being worn out. This has got to be the worst experience ever. What should I do? Should I file a complaint and try to get something different because this is not satifactory.

my laptop was overheating so they said they will do a system exchange, and the rep said i would be getting a "like new system" which would be better then what i have right now (inspiron 9300, 1.6 ghz, 256mb ram, 6800 GO, 60 gig 7200rpm hd)

so i looked at the outlet and currently i only see 2 laptops, a 2.0 ghz with 2 gigs ram and 100 gig 7200 rpm hd and one with the same specs but 60 gig 7200 rpm and 1 gig ram

i hope they dont send out either of these and give me a m170! maybe i should complain a little aswell? any thoughts on what i should say to get the m170?

I'm trying right now as I type this. I've been through 3 chat sessions and they all seem to not be able to help me. I'll keep you updated.

Update: So I got bounced around thru all the chat sessions which ended in me having to call "Customer Care Support" but they every other one said these people could help you. This and that. So I ended up emailing the person that is handling my support session about the un-satistactory replacement they gave me. It seriously is ridiculous the way they pass you off and seems like no one knows the answer to anything.

Keep at it Rob, seriously.

You are definitely lucky. I am only recieving another 9300 in better condition than my first replacement. I don't know how you guys talk your way into upgrades but I keep on trying and I get no where they tell me the best they can do is give me the same machine without better specs. I'm just going to have to upgrade the card myself I guess.
