Primarily the problem is the fact that there are no drivers for the X1400 video card from ATI.
Kubuntu fails to boot to begin with. Fedora installs, but the VESA driven resolution won't go past 1024x768 (I need 1280x800). SuSE, works on, but the resolution doesn't go any higher than 800x600 no matter what I try (even the manual editing of xorg.conf).
I see that some people wiht the 5672 (any other x1000 series video owners?) managed to use it. Is it because you managed to fix it somehow? Or are you using a lower resolution?

I am trying so hard to make that linux switch (the new KDE looks so nice too), but all these technical limitations make it so hard.
