Can someone PLEASE insert a I6400 (X1400) into a I6000!? - Page 8

Supposedly it runs at medium settings on the 6400, i have yet to try it out. Maybe would get a little improvement by overclocking it.

I don't see why you would want to do that. The 6400 has extra buttons and more ports tahn the 6000, plus the chipsets are different.

bf2 is a bit more cpu dependant than gpu dependant in your case I think. your ram isn't limiting at all. I've OC'd my pm 715 to 2ghz, and the x300 128mb to 418/560. get 40-60 fps at med-low settings at 800x600. Though having a great vid card wouldn't hurt :P

Yeah..maybe a core duo would be better for that game in that case. It's a whole lot faster than a P-M

@leo:
the bios you provide us.. is this kind complete

for all:

all we must do hack hack hack ;-)

1. Find the entrys for the x1400 card in the 1505 (6400) bios.
2. Merge this Entrys with the Insp6000 Bios
3. Put the x1400 in ur insp6000, flash the bios and all must go.

that is what a dell-teki told me. again the div beetwen te x300 and the x1400 (x1300) is only the hypermemory. these kind of information is missing in the bios of the insp6000. and all what leo must do is find the entrys for the x1400, and replace it with the adress entrys for the x300..

well the both the 6000 and the 6400 bios are put online, now we just have to wait if somone can hack it

I dont know if it's complete, i wasnt about to try it out you know. I only followed the instruction of the web page you guys linked me to.

I've read that PM's are a lot faster than their clockspeed suggests. Like a 2ghz PM would be comparable to a 3.2P4 or something like that. I think my 1.6 would be comparable to at least a 2.2 P4... Isn't that sufficient for most games? I'm pretty sure its the GPU since x300s are pretty lowend. The thing is, when I start to game on CSS, I get around 40fps which is very playable at 800x600 with most settings on high. But a couple minutes into it and the frames drop to the teens. this drop happens everytime even when i set everything to low. its definitely not my conn since i get pings at around the 50's.. any suggestions?

CPU is responsible for some FPS though..a 2.2 is fine, but you could do better. 1.66 Core Duo is about a 3.8 - 4.0 GHz p4

graphical quality is a combination of processor speed and graphical card preformance. if you have a super fast graphic card and a medium cpu your graphics won't be optimal because the uge ammound of data calculated by the graphics card can't be tranferred trough the cpu. so it's a balance between a fast cpu and a high end graphics card

I have the same CPU/GPU combinaison and I can run CSS at 1024x768 with everything to medium and world details to high at an average of 100fps except in Office and Dust2 where I hit 70fps max. Howerver, I have 1gb of RAM. If you have less than 1gb, the quantity of RAM you have may be the bottleneck. Also, do you have 1 stick or 2? Two is better because they will run in Dual Channel mode.

You may also look for the ATI Omega Drivers which provide a small boost in graphic performances and if you are cowboy enough, you may overclock your X300 as it is an excellent overclocker!

Back to the topic now... How goes the BIOS modification so far? Wouldn't it be better if someone posted the BIOS image of a HyperMemory enabled X300?

I'm hoping that as soon as he gets some news they'll let us know.

It would be so awsome if I could upgrade my card. so so awsome.

Dood, i have the same system as you but i have 2 gigs of ddr2 ram. In dust2, I get like 30-15 frames at 8x6 with default settings in dust 2....

what drivers are you using?
^nvm.. i think its the server. i tried the cs stress test and when i oc the using omega drivers, i get a nice 70+ fps and 40+ in stock.. its weird tho, the ping never spikes or anything but the frames drop like crazy. i guess that would explain why its good when im first connected but drops later on during gameplay. anyway ill try to find better servers. thanks.

I agree the x300 is a good little gpu, for sure. I was surprised when I traded my 9300 with a 6800 for a i6000d, it can play all the games I could play on the 9300, and runs cool as hell doing it too. im not a hardcore gamer by any stretch of the imagination, but its a good card imho. that being said, im a tinkerer, I love to upgrade stuff and if it is possible I will put a x1400 in if it is a big improvement, just because. I don't need it but it would be cool, to me, probably because im completely insane when it comes to computers, I just cant have enough....

help me.....
