Can someone PLEASE insert a I6400 (X1400) into a I6000!? - Page 2

Your welcome You should be glad I felt like sh!t tonight, that's why I had the time to do it. Had both laptops all torn apart on my bed. I took some pics, I'll upload them tomorrow for you guys. I'm glad I could help though, it's good to know that all you need is a BIOS hack.

BTW, I have my x1400 up to 550core and 450 memory(from 432/400 stock) and it's still got more! This thing OC's like a beast! Running 3DMark05/06 now, I'll post results.

I can just overclock the core up to 540. After that my laptop freezes. Maybe it needs more power?

So Either i've lost my mind and stupid however.

If one was to know what he/she was looking for....

You could download the FlashBIOs from Dell for the 1505....then download the BIOS for the 6000d....

Look for what ever it is your looking for in the bios. and Add in the "commands/coding" for the X1400? to the 6000d bios. then save it, then upload it? am i correct or am i compleatly and utterly wrong on this? and i should never post again?

Wow...I really want a x1400 now. Those clocks are so nice! If some one can hack the bios and get the x1400 to work, I will definitely acquire a x1400.

I've had the core up to 575, but it freezes in 3DMark after a couple of minutes. It might be able to hold that clock once the gpu is fully burned in, we'll see. I'm a little dissapointed that the memeory won't clock higher, though it might just take some time. I added As5 to it last night while trying the x1400/I6000, so once that really sets in the temps shouldn't be a problem at all for the OC. Though I'm not even sure what they are now. I need to install a few apps, I just haven't done it becuase I'm going to wipe the drive and reinstall this weekend.

I sooo hope someone figures out the bios.

How much is the X1400 from Dell?

Thank you for result.. Camride It was great!!! ..
Is it possible next time Dell will release upgraded Original New Bios version A10. to I6000 users with supporting ATI x1400 garphic card??

Someone I6000 user can call support center and demand it..
It's right?

I saw someone tell me about a good BIOs editor and i'll hack it see if it works i've got a new i6000d on the way i can horse around with the that goes back to dell MUWHAHAHa

I doubt Dell will support the x1400 in their BIOS revisions, though stranger things have happened. It just doesn't seem like it'd be worth it to them to sell a few extra x1400's. Hopefully Riddic or someone else will be able to hack the BIOS and get the support the x1400 needs to run in the I6000.

this is sort of off topic but i have a 6000d and my x300 is messed up. I'm about to call dell on monday to fix it since i still have warrranty. Will they replace it with x300? because as far as I know, they dont make x300 anymore so ... what will they do?
They probably have thousands of them in stock. Don't worry, you'll get an X300.
Would it be possible to just flash the 6000 bios with the 1505 ROM?? The only setback I see is that the x1400 is HyperMemory (128 MB is on the card and 128 MB of system memory). The BIOS would have to tell the system to allocate that amount of system RAM for the video card. I wouldn't mind having the x1400 with just the 128 MB onboard RAM as I have 2 GB of system RAM.

I checked with Dell today about the price and availability of the x1400...

Part Number: WF148
Price: $95.95
Extension: 72-44161

I was told they have some in stock, so now all that's left is that BIOS hack!
95.95 is an awful lot for just a small increase in performance. I reccomend against it and stay happy with the x300 =)
$100 is pretty cheap considering you can prolly sell the X300 on ebay. Plus it's worth it for some games where the X300 is just a little too slow.
not to mention the x1400 supports opengl2.0, SM3, HDR and Avivo all of which the x300 does not.

For the price it is a worthy upgrade IMO.

Same. My x300's heat sink is acting funky and can get to 85C under stress (OC'ed but not by much). It would be good to upgrade the heatsink and while i'm at it, upgrade the graphics card.

Many people have been getting pretty significant gains from overclocking the x1400...it has a lot higher ceiling than the x300. Besides, there is nothing left to upgrade on my computer so...souds like a winner to me!

Does anyone have any ideas of what we could do to fix the BIOS problem??
