Wish me luck with this laptop arm!

Well, I bought this:

http://www.buy.com/prod/LX_Desk_Moun...202293625.html

Let's hope it will hold up this monster. It's rated at 2.5lb to 12lb, which is dangerously close to the FX7's 12.7lb....

Edit: Here's the pics:

Pic 1: How it looks with the arm only slightly extended to a comfy viewing angle for me:

Pic 2: Rear shot. The arm has cable management...

Pic 3: They included these clips that bolt to the arm's backplate. They include 3 sizes. None are an EXACT fit, but if I bend one slightly, I am able to have them match up a few back port screws PERFECTLY. I basically twist a couple of thumbscrews into those 2 locations, which keeps this thing VERY steady. No easy feat for a 13+lb notebook!

Too dangerously close, IMHO. I wouldn't put so nice (and expensive) a machine at risk. Be careful. Oh . . . good luck.

Any wobble and it comes right off

Definitely would be interesting and with my CX7, I would possibly consider it, if I had a more stable table next to me to latch it on to. But with the FX7 - man… that is definitely going to be questionable. Especially since the weights that are normally given are not of a maxed out machine. Adding additional hard and optical drives will just add more weight to the system.

If you have another notebook at home - I would get it. Then it wouldn't be a waste. Else…. Not sure.

Good luck!

Test it with a small child first, just to make sure it's safe! Kids are more resilient than laptops =).

Karl I like your black shoes and white stockings in the backround. I see u also wear a dress. You appear to be short. Are you a dwarf?

Great pictures of your kids.

Mine haven't looked like that for many years, but I remember those days - I still liked them then . . .

OK, monitor arm is installed.... looks like it handles this beast without any problems. Pics to follow shortly after I clean up my desk, which of course won't happen until AFTER my long-weekend liquor run

Just a suggestion

Go wireless keyboard and mouse, eliminate two cables.

Cute kids and nice arm! Do they make an arm to hang the kids up so you can game in peace
My son pulls up a chair and watches me play Oblivion.

I'd do that for the KB since batteries last forever in those... but for the mouse, no way. I had an MX1000 for like a year and HATED it because I always forgot to stick it on the charger

My son is the same way... nice to have a sprouting gamer in the house since my wife and daughter don't game at all. I started my son on his own computer at age four and so he got quite familiar with it. And when I am playing, he loves to watch and tell me how to do certain things. So soon… he is ready for some multiplayer action.

Hopefully, he will develop into one of those bright kids that make millions of dollars at age 12 and I can retire for life. Ok… maybe not. But atleast I will have a fellow gamer in the house. We can spread out new games between our b-days.
