I'd recommend the Audio-Technica A500 which is the little brother of the very popular A900.
Now just send me a link of where i can get the Audio-Technica A500 for less then 100 =P
post #483 of 674
This is the only site that sells them in the US.

http://www.audiocubes.com/category/H...eadphones.html

Then apply this coupon at checkout for $5 off $100, bringing it down to exactly $100. It's the best price you can get short of going to Japan and buying it.

Head-Fi 100 Discount Coupon: headfi-ac95723
for use of order over $100, discount of $5

Expires October 9th.

These are incredible headphones for the price and have an amazing soundstage, making them ideal for games.

how often do they have coupons because i won't be able to buy that for a couple months =/
post #485 of 674
also if anyone else has some idea on some headphones for me let me know please. gsferrari I would like to know what you think because you seem to be the headphones master. Thanks!

They offer coupons here and there. Their last sale was even better because it was $15+ off various AT headphones.

If $100 is too much for you (you should really try stretch for it!), the Sennheiser HD-485's are a good choice for gaming at $70. They're a bit biased towards bass which is something you say you like. They may be a good fit, but remember to burn them in because many people said that the burn-in procedure particularly helped with this pair.

Edit - If you want more input, try head-fi.org. gsferrari, myself, and many others can offer you a lot more suggestions there.

haha, i didn't know so many head-fiers came to this board. I highly recommend Sony MDR-CD3000 and ATH 900's. Both are kinda closed and very open in the stage department. I've owned both and they are amazing for gaming. If you want something a little light, then Sennheiser HD-580, HD-600, or even HD-650 are all amazing. I even recommend Grado headphones because of how light they are but they are not comfortable for most.

Hey, got a question. What's your opinion on the A900 vs. the AD900? The latter isn't mentioned much, but the people I've talked to claim that it has better bass and mids. Is there a place besides bluetin.com where I can get the AD900 cheaper?
Can anyone tell me which phones are better and why?

Sony MDR-7506 vs Audio-Technica ATX-A500

Thanks!
This comes from one of the few people who's owned the A500's, A900's AND the 7506's.

"I will say, compared to the 7506, you'll find that ATH-A500's bass is less exaggerated (although there's still a good amount of it), and the highs are much more tamed, trebles aren't sharp and harsh the way it is with 7506. The soundstage is much better than the 7506."

The 7506 is more aggressive, more bassy, and more in your face. That's not "worse" by any means if that's what you're looking for, but that's basically the main difference between the two.

I have the Sennheiser HD280 Pro. Excellent pair of headphones. They are Circum-Aural, so hardly any sound at all gets in, and minumal sound escapes.

CD3000 is discontinued by the way...

SA1000, SA3000 and SA5000 are the new headphones in the budget sony lineup. All of them are excellent for the money...

Ok I did a few searches in this thread and I see the majority of people are looking for high end full ear gaming headphones.
However I am looking for a pair of earbuds/inner ear or clips or behind the head style headphones for a creative Zen touch mp3 player.

Honostly I don't want to spend $100 on a pair of headphnes that are gonna be traveling the world with me and have a good chance of being broken or lost.

I love bass, I listen to ALOT of techno and alot of metal, so while I am not looking for breath taking quality, we all know stock headphones tend to be meh...
Thanks alot for your input in advance

I will use the previous post as mine. Any recommendation for a earbud headphone? It must be durable. I've heard that sonys MDX51 and 71 are good choices, but i'm not sure about durability. I, too, will use it on trips. price < $50.

Sennheiser PC-150

I was thinking about giving my Sennheiser 497s to a friend (kinda small and uncomfortable for my head). Could you guys suggest a pair that sounds about the same, but are more comfortable for us big headed people?

Thanks

I haven't read much into this thread, but I have some HD 465 headphones from Sennheiser, and basically, you can feel these things thump. They're great, awesome bass, they take some getting used to on the ears, but they will stop hurting after a while, and they make my brother's Bose QuietComfort 2's sound like two cups attached to strings.

I have a pair of Sony MDR EX71's, and they're pretty good, especially for the money. While they're not a pair of Shure's, they sound pretty good and have fairly decent bass.

If you are looking to upgrade then take a look at the Sennheiser HD-555 or 595.
