The Headphones Thread - Page 30

killer setup. wish my desktop looked that nice. i have crap everywhere.
I love the smell of vanilla scented candle...puts me to sleep at night

As for having crap everywhere - put your mind to it and WORK to get the place cleaned up. Buy some tie-wraps, cable organizers (I have to do this sometime this week), glass cleaner, cleaning cloth...and get to work. I put all my media into a separate drawer (1 for music and 1 for games). I keep my MFP (Most Frequently Played) games and music on the top shelf of my table. My audio setup is perfect where it is...love it!

What are those funky looking headphones? They don't look too comfortable.

No idea about those headphones. What are your requirements? Just follow the same format that others have used before in listing out priorities and expectations. This way I will be able to recommend a headphone to meet your needs and budget.

Just received my Sennheiser 201's today. Very nice sound!
But, I'm finding my mp3 collection + laptop is unendurable now! I'm nearing nasty distortion on even 320 kbps stuff...

I'm looking at getting one of these 3 headphones made by Sennheiser. Which one would you guys pick?

Mainly I'm looking for something under $30 that's good for gaming and decent for music & movies. Also, I'd like to be able to wear them outside my house without looking retarded. I'm open for recommendations.

Hey I have a question... I was thinking about getting or perhaps trying to make an amp... although I am away from "the Lab" in Germany unitl August it would have to wait... does USB produce enough clean power to power a small amp?.. and I was wondering if it were possible to have a switch to change between a battery and the USB powerplug... also... I was wondering what brand of caps and such you suggest...

Also I have an Audigy 2 ZS Laptop and a pair of Sinnheisser HD 457s... is an amp even worth it?..
Also I have a pair of those huge Koss headphones that weigh like 2 pounds and have the mic mount... they were like 99 bucks about 5 year ago... and look really old school... can't find them any more on the website...

All my MP3s are 320vbr files at 48kHz and a few at 44kHz

can't wait to hear what you guys say!..

DO it! DO it! <starsky and hutch>

Build one...I recommend the M-Cubed (M3) solid state amplifier. Ready PCD, plonk the parts in, fire it up and you are good to go! Looks good too (check PM for suggestions on cosmetic treatments).

Not recommended

Caps: Nichicon Muse
Resistors: Vishay Dale / Holco
Volume Control: DACT CT2 Stepped Attenuator, ALPS Blue Velvet potentiometer

Get an EMU-1212 also and use that for music, Audigy for games. Switching between them shouldnt be too hard...I would just use one card With the Audigy - forget about high fidelity.

Koss has lifetime warranty. Keep them and get another pair. If you are building the M3 then get a HD-650 (can be had for around $250.00 new) or SA5000 ($300.00 new). Even the AKG K701 seems to be getting rave reviews.

No problem.

Do you mind if I ask which one you decided on getting? I'm still torn on which one I wanna get.
I got the SENNHEISER HD457 3.5/6.3mm Connector Headphone/Headset - Retail, they got good reviews and look comfortable.

I thought the same thing, they do look more comfortable with the foam instead of the leather, but I'm not sure if I'd prefer them to just go ontop of my ears or enclose the ears entirely.

If you ordered from Newegg, then you should get them by the end of the week, so let me know what you think of em when you get them.

Sennheiser 201 are ugly also, too much plastic, generaly build quality on Sennheiser's is poor. I think Grados look retro and pretty cool, but anyway it's the sound that counts (I don't rate closed phones that high either)

Cool. I wasn't busting your chops man. And I wasn't rating how the Grados sound either.

I wanted noise isolation above everything--my application will be in a noisy work environment, and the price was cheap--$17.49.

Oh, and they still kinda look like those safety headphones that airline mechanics use to me.
Dude what are you talking about those look BADASS!

Bass - 3
Price - 4
Physical Dimensions - 2
Sensitivity - 3
