The Headphones Thread - Page 32

OK people, here is my big plight.

I bought a sony xd-200 for $47 with tax ($39.99 originally)from futureshop.ca

The headphones are pretty nice. good and balanced sound. easy fit too.

but I heard so much about sennheisers than I began to think my sony headphones are not good.

So I returned them and got sennheisers HD 212 pro for $92 with tax($80).

excellent bass as if they are made on woofers, good quality at loud volume and the best of all they are noise cancelling headphones.

I find both to be sounding very well but it doesnt look worth to spend $92 on sennheisers

Have I taken the right decision or should I go back to sony?

please help.

wait a minute...you think Sony is a "better brand" than sennheiser?

I am not going to try to educate you - but you are horribly mistaken

Would you buy a headphone made by Ferrari just because theirs is a brand with huge appeal?

Sennheiser is probably the most easily recognizable brand in the studio industry. Shure is also right up there. Sony is nowhere on the scene. You will be lucky to find a Sony headphone in a top end studio.

Sony makes a lot of junk and an occasional good product. Their SA series headphones are good - but I didnt buy them because they were made by Sony.

Also - you paid WAAAAY too much for a sennheiser HD212. You should be able to get them for $50.00 - $60.00

i'm lookin for a 5.1 surround sound headphone, is there any good one to be recommend
post #626 of 674
i think the zalmann 5.1 are pretty good. read some good reviews a while back
although im not too sure about recent versions

What are the best earbuds a whole $30 can buy me? Sony Fontopias?
I just ordered some Sennheiser 212 Pros
It was under $50 after tax from zip zoom fly.

I may just write up a review after I recieve them and test them out for a while. I did a little bit of research, and although the EH250 may have been a better deal for my money, ZZF was out of stock, and I looked at the frequency response charts on both, and the HD212's seem to have more bass, which was something I was looking for in some decent gaming cans, while still being able to listen to music.

I also bought a Zalman Mic1 from xoxide by recommendation from Tyrant.

Best bang for the buck now-a-days are the Sennheiser HD280's in my opinion.

I've used them (ampless) with an X-Fi Xtrememusic, and now on my laptop with an Audigy ZS2. Perfect bass and response with music. Makes listening to real music a pleasure. Games are very good as well. I play a lot of FPS's and the directional sound can be picked up very well.

The one headphones I plead for people to quit buying are Icemat Siberia's. They're junk. The sound is there, but it's bland and over rated. Quality is about the same as a 3 dollar pair of walmart headphones.

Do you want stock iPod headphones, or better similar ones?

I'd suggest Shure E3c or E4c if you want higher quality iPod styled earphones, depending how much you want to spend.

I just bought a pair of Westone UM2's, not exactly styled like the iPod but I don't have an iPod anyway (thanks Dell for free dell DJ with my i9100!)

I want the normal ones, because the cable has come lose on on of the headphones, and the sound is lower on that one.

Thanks!

Try ebay. Although for the same money I'd probably go for Sony fontopia 51's or Koss plugs. Far far better sound from those.

Anyone tried the AKG K26 P? On Headroom they said they were the best portable headphones you could find for reasonably cheap. I'm hitting the road, ditching my snazy 5.1 sound system, and I'm looking for headphones for my laptop. I'm not certain whether to get these or pay a bit more for Grado SR 60s.

Koss KSC75's are supposed to be amazing in that price range, or as you said Grado SR60's, depending what you want them to do. Grado's are said to be some of the best for music, especially rock. Try the www.head-fi.org forums for more detailed advice.
