Mystery port next to DVD-R/RW?

My 8600 has what appears to be some kind of port that's covered. It's located on the rear right corner and to the right of the DVD-R/RW drive. I noticed in Loki047's M60 pics that the same port is uncovered and looks almost like it houses two USB connectors. Anyone know what this port is, and why it's covered?

Those are in fact USB ports on the M60 .. The 8600 does not have them so the slot is covered .. There are a few models that all use the same case so not all features are on all models ..

So, the M60 has 4 USB ports? No fair!!!

UGH!!! STOP!!! You guys are depressing me. If only the M60 could be configured with the ATI 9600, I'd have gotten it.

its not worth it unless you can drop the price by 1000 dollars and you can technically upgrade the m60 to a 9600 radeon but it hasnt been done yet.

Actually the D800 has the same setup as the M60. They do indeed have gigabit ethernet for whatever that's worth. As for the "4" USB 2.0 ports, there are actually only 3. The other extra port (by the DVD-drive) is a special port used for power with the Dell D-Port connector. So, in the end, it is only one extra USB 2.0 port.
