Vaio, Fujitsu P7000, or other???

I've been EXTREMELY pleased with my IBM X31 with its 12" screen, awesome keyboard, battery life, solid construction, etc...

I'm about to upgrade computers and am considering other options. I'd like to move to something smaller if possible, definately not bigger than 12" screen, but even 10" or smaller would be great. Also, I need a built-in optical which the IBM doesn't have :-(

What do you think is the best option? I really like the Fujitsu P7010 type series, but am concerned about the build quality. I also like the new Vaio, but I'm not as big on the keyboard as it isn't as comfortable as the Fujitsu.

Are there some other options I'm not considering? Should I consider the Dell 700? Others?

This is what I'm after:
#1 - SOLID SYSTEM with high build quality!
2 - optical drive
3 - portability
4 - min 1GB ram capability, but better if it can handle more

I've been using Fujitsu T70J (japanese model for P7000 series), and so far I'm very pleased with the build quality, portability and very reliable as well, but to be truth I'm not a gamer, I'm using the laptop for work like internet, email, VB programming and SQL server.. also to rip my dvd

My brother in law has an older mode of the Fujitsu 7000 series and he loves it. Gets 7+hours of battery life and does everything he needs. I have used it on occassion and my only complaint is I have large hands and the keyboard is a little small.

The new Fujitsu Siemens LifeBook Q2010 is STUNNING if you can afford to spend that much on ultraportable pc then go for it.. it has a DUO processor and amazing connectivity options.. topped by fujitsu screen which is simply the best lcd screen in notebook worlds.
