I am seriousy thinking about getting an 8600 from the outlet, but with a WXGA screen (I can get aome nice features for a good price with this set up). I want to see any pictures if anyone has has them of the WXGA before I make the plunge. By the way, the outlet sale ends today... so hurry!! (Just kidding, if you can post them that would be cool).

You will be happy with the WXGA screen I would also suggest the eMachine (yes emachines) new 6xxx series laptops which offer an extremely tasty price point

I have an WXGA and I love it. I actually had a chance to see both the WSXGA+ and the UXGA at a Dell kiosk before my purchase. Neither were enough for a "have to have' for my uses. The SXGA is fine for that size screen and CRISPY it's a SAMSUNG!

8600 1.4
512 mb ram 2700
Nvidia 5200 go 64mb
40 G 5400 rpm
DVD/CDRW
WXGA (Samsung)
Win XP Home
1 year warranty
$1268

Do you mean the WXGA is ok? Or do you have the WSXGA?

Also, Is there a difference between the WSXGA and the WSXGA+??

Unfortunetly the Display models at the Kiosks are also shown in well lit areas so it reduces the vivid display you should be seeing.

That's true I did see them in a worst case scenario, but for me it was more about the real estate rather than the brightness and vivid colors. I knew I would not keep it at that resolution for everyday use. I was impressed by the Wall Paper like the one's displayed on the Fujitsus but when I put good ole windows desktop up there and IE....too small for my tastes. I liked the WSGA+ better but alas too many Hitachis out there and still being shipped. So I passed on them too at the outlet and went down instaed of up. I was pleasantly surprised by the WXGA. Real Nice LCD and a Samsung.

Its ironic to me that many SXGA+ buyers are UPGRADING to the UXGA beccause of the Hitachi issue Paying MORE to Dell. All the while Dell is selling tons of the SXGA+ to many more regular folk who are happy and don't know any better! Only a very small minority of users visit the forums. So Dell is probably say 'Whats the problem"? A handful of returns vs the minions sold...

It's a win win deal for Dell.

Its kind of silly that the WSXGA screens made by samsung are brighter than there WUXGA counterparts something to keep in mind when all of you are configuring
