*OFFICIAL*: Dell XPS M1710 *Pictures*! *RELEASED TOMORROW!*

Thread Starter
Well I was googling a bit on the XPS M1710 and I found that Dell French Website, delliens or something. Found they posted a thread here, but the pictures were just another post, and thought few people would actually llok there so reposted them here. And at they're forums I had a hard enough time looknig for all of them myself. As I said this is courtesy of www.delliens.com and it is also them who have confirmed a release date of APRIL 14, 2006 . So not to long fellas! The M170 has already been removed form Dell's drop-down menu.

I have a Dell M140 already on the way, and this is too heavy for travelling anyways. But Rock On! If I save enough money I'll pick it up in a year....or two .

Sweet
I am selling my 9300 maybe I will pick one of these up later this year but I might wait for a vista laptop
post #4 of 209
as some one mentioned in another thread, it's odd that on the side views it's not the xps, but like a 9300 or 9400.

Just my $.02

Looks sweet as hell though

Edit: actually upon closer inspection, it isn't a 9300 or 9400..it's got the smart card slot and you can barely, and I mean barely make out the shape of the xps cutout in the center of the top

Nice. Wonder what it'll cost? I'd really like a Core Duo CPU... If anything I'll be buying the top case. Looks like there'll be a dock too! I definitely like the Dell badge as well. Looks much better than the one we have now.
That looks to me like a docking mount on the bottom, oooo that makes me want one now....usign the same dock as the M90 is a nice bonus
post #7 of 209
it seems to match the new styling maybe they updated it
post #8 of 209
so are core duo 64 bit enabled
Nice...

Isn't that a docking port interface in that last pic? Looks like they listened...

OMG ... how many times are we gonna see the pics from lesbian.com !!!???? Gotta pay attention to whats goin on in the dell forum
But appreciate the effort to share new info with cool users of NBF

Core duo, docking port, 7900s, new color scheme. Nice, but ill have to wait for some DX10 enabled stuff before i can justify spending money.
a few questions: is it going to have the 7900 gtx or 7900gs? i am not familiar with intel chipsets, will I be able to upgrade to memron and maybe one more GPU upgrade? I would like this to be a good and viable Lappy for a few years and run vista. Thanks.

edit: the reason I ask is because my first laptop was the original xps with the mr9800. There were no upgrades for it as it was the last model on its way out for PCI-e. I am looking for some upgradability!

The sentiments behind me getting the M170. The M1710 will be a beast no question, but with merom g80 dx10 and vista coming within the next 8 months or so, it was worth me saving $1000-2000 on getting an M170 and putting the saved cash towards the true next gen stuff rather than a refresh.
Aesthetically, I think im the only one who likes the Gen2/M170 better. The new design looks cheap/wimpy. The last gen looked like nothing else out there.
don't know if i like the new design as much as the current one ......
yea sub's got the right idea these look great but they will be the last of the current gen laptops the dx10 merom's are where your money would be better invested for future upgradability I am selling my 9300 and prob wont get a new laptop until the dx10 vista ones unless there is somewhere later on that I can get a killer deal on and m170 then I might put some money into one of them to get me by til vista

that's the first thing I noticed, too

not that I use the keypad much, but it would be a nice added feature since the XPS has plenty extra space
post #19 of 209
You think you'd like a full size keyboard till you use one and notice that your hands aren't centered with the screen. I know that would bother me ALOT!!!! Imagine having to shift the laptop on your lap more to the right because you want to type

Just my $.02

Yeah, I love the centered keyboard too. Maybe relaease one as an accessory (along with a palm rest) for lile $70 or something.

That thing better have perimeter lighting
