I am not sure that would be worth the extra $$$ over the M170,... to me, anyways. Now where are those 40% off coupons?

Go spec out a latitude d820 or precision m90, it near doubles the price of the machine

4gb is not worth it, unless you're doing some majorly intensive 3d modeling/rendering you won't need 4gb. Until the 2gb sticks are sold retail and come down in price there is almost no reason to get that much RAM in a notebook. You cuold get a whole 'nother XPS for the price of the 4gb upgrade.

Did anyone else notice that it looks like the XPS on the back of the LCD panel is lit up? I'm not sure if it's just the picture on Dell's website or if it's actually lighted. I hope it is, that would be sweet!!!

I agree there should be Esata on most notebooks now. I think the sticking point is that there aren't any unused sata channels they can spare on the chipset. Crestfield will probably be when they change that (2007)

Somehow I find that hard to believe. The optical drive still uses the PATA interface. Even the most rudimentary chipsets nowadays at least have two SATA channels.

If you have a quick look at the Intel site for the southbridge ICH-7M which is a pale shadow to the ICH-7 so don't mix documents, you'll find that it's abilities are quite limited. It has tons of USB ports however, lol.

I don't recall and I'm really tired or I'd link you. If I'm wrong I apologize in advance. Not meaning to send you on a wild goose chase.
