5680 S vs V question

I was wondering the reason for the big price jump from the 5680-S to the 5680-V. Even with base configs and the S bumped up to the 3.0GHz (vs. the V's 3.2GHz), I show a $150 difference (vs. the ~$50 diff the two CPUs would entail). Are there other differences under the covers that I should know about?

Also, the USB port replicator -- is it internal?

Why in the world would anyone want an internal Port Replicator?

Is there a such thing? What would be its purpose?

Somebody please school me on this!

I just double-checked the specs...and you can forget about the USB question. I had thought the 5680 had only 1 USB (my bad -- it's one 1394). It has 4 -- more than enough for an external keyboard, mouse, joystick and a spare...

I'd still like clarification as to chipsets (incl. North&South bridge).
