Fatal Error

My son is home from college for a couple of days, so I decided to clean up his ocmputer a little. I ran adaware and after a couple of seconds, a blue screen comes on fatal error and the system will shut down. He was on his computer last night and it seemed to be fine. He has a Dell 6000. I am running AVG now and that seems to be working. While adaware was running for that little time, one module critical object came up and then it shut down. Please help. Thanks.

does it still come up when you run adaware again? Couldn't tell from your post if you tried again or not.

It only comes up running adaware. I uninstalled it and then reinstalled. I even used system restore. Computer is fine otherwise. I also ran the diagnostic tests (F12). Everything seems to be fine. I did reinstall it and I still get that blue screen. Thanks

I would try running a different anti-spyware/malware program to see if that might clear up the problem. Ewido, Spybot Search & Destroy, or maybe a trial version of Spy Sweeper might help. Seems that no single spyware program catchers or gets rid of all problems. Good luck.

What other program can I download and substitute for Adaware? He already has Spybot. Thanks.

Windows Defender is another freebie from Microsoft which might help.
