600$ and 15-30 minutes off your battery life... i Can't see it being a positive addition to your laptop, or significantly increase gameplay as opposed ot the regular p4 3.2

Wait, is this the "prescott" edition Intel was going to release?

No

The EE was not ment for games...well yes and no. Doom 3 and unreal games that cache alot of info on the processor will like the EE but there is no way to tell by how much. As for Video Editing you will see an increese in preformance. The EE has 178 million transistors as to 55 million on the normal Pentium 4. The other 123 Million transistors are S-ram.

2.5MB Cache = 2.56 million bytes = 20.48 million bits x 6 transistors per bit =122.88 million transistors.

Hope this help

retracted previous after finding out just how gay EE is

yes it is gay. I think I will be passing on this one. Unless the EE can take renduring times off like 5 min or more then I am not buying. 3.2 will preform within 10FPS in games-_-*guessing* I need to do more research to see if my programs will use the 2mb of cache.

Lucky for us the Prescott is directed at games and multimedia with a 16kb level 1 and a 1MB level 2 (or is it 2MB ?? )

I would wait for the prescott which is a mass produced chip and should be cheaper than the EE. Also - I think the EE will be discontinued very soon...very very soon...

Just a feeling though

I'm sure you going to be correct on this. This chips reminds of when Intel released the "MMX" processor for the original Pentium 1 line. It was supposedly the "Multi Media Enhanced" version of the P1 series. Short lived market gimmick with no real buy out.

Ditto on waiting for the Prescott.
