alienware has EE - Page 2

Thats the P4 and P4EE difference that you just pointed out The Prescott is completely different design and I feel it will be a better performer by quite some distance.

But its all up in the air until I see some reviews...im just mouthing off here

Hopefully its worth it and is not $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

1mb cache not 2mb cache like the EE

I prefer larger Level1 than a HUGE level2..but thats just me...in my design class Level1 is more important than level2...

no cache is the best cache is only good when programs support it

Let's face it, the processor is not the weakest link in a PC anymore. I think it is either the GPU or the Hard Drive. (unless of course you have a WD raptor like me

hard drive is hardly a performance bottleneck anymore. Its the RAm, CPU and BUS speeds. The RAM is possibly the biggest bottleneck here coupled with the BUS speed. I would like a 2Ghz BUS, 1Ghz RAM pairs and a 4Ghz CPU to even things up

Oh and the level1 cache is important. Cache is everything if you want to avoid bottlenecks - bigger is better...

I don't think i'm buying. It would make my order jump from 3,900 to 4,500.

I could take the $800 price diff and buy a lifetime supply of Longitude.

I haven't read up much on the prescott Prosessor yet. Does anyone know if it uses the same socet as the Noth Prosessors?

IE: When avalibe could it work/fit with the current SiS motherboards in out laptops?

THanks Phyro

uninformed

SmGfan85, you seem to be severly uninformed. Please atleast try to do some research before posting, especially 2 such comments. Go here:

your last statement is wrong

I prefer a larger Level1 to a level2 and I am willing to pay because I know how hard it is to put more memory in there with a limited number of viable transistors to place and route.

The Level 2 is a separate chip on the same die. makes it easier to mod it if you are gonna change from one revision to the next. Level 1 is IN the chip.

What you probably mean is that by getting the Level 2 to run as fast as the CPU we can ease the bottlenecks in the data buses - which is true and you are correct.

But increasing Level 2 is productive...but only secondary to improving the speed and capacity of level 1.

This article should be of some help, http://www.nordichardware.com/review...03/Pentium4EE/ there's already a 3.4 EE coming out next week sometime.
