Dude, My Dell's Dead

Well my Dell, a Inspiron 4000 as per my signature, died finally.

6 months to go on that warranty, Airborne is picking it up on Monday to go back to depot for warranty repair work.

Last time I sent it to depot it was returned unrepaired. Let's hope things go better this time through.

Righto...

You know you're starting to get anxious about getting your laptop back when you dream about it at night.

Airborne picked it up on Monday.....

Wonder what I could get now.

Better question: Is there any way to get info on how my laptop is doing or what they are doing?

I find it kinda interesting to look at my service history.

Defective Harddrive = NOISE COMPLAINT

And no mention at all of it being shipped in our my recent phone calls.
because theres no category for it. They marked my defective video card as (dim screen)

Interesting, too bad I can't go back and look further into the past then a year.

E-mailed Dell asking about my laptop, got a generic reply.

Update: After being informed that they didn't know where my laptop was, or had any information of me shipping it in. Got a call yesterday telling me they would have the laptop for another two weeks due to a "back-ordered" part.
If you are lucky, that "back-ordered" part won't ever come in and they'll have to replace. Maybe you can get them to give you a SAGER 8790 instead.

Hey, if you're dreaming, go for the gold.
Your mostlikely going to be issued a Inspiron 4100 or 600m since they fit the profile pray they never get the parts!

By now I figure they'll **** me somehow. Using a motherboard and processor out of some scrapped 4000. Having owned it for 2 and 1/2 years so far, everything has been replaced now EXCEPT the plastic case. Specifically (and in order):

DVD-ROM, Harddrive, LCD, Floppy Drive, and now Motherboard and Processor.

Six things so far... thats one part every 5 months.

Yeah I'm really impressed with the laptops Dell sells now.

Sorry, but last time it went to depot it came back unrepaired, I'm not holding my breathe to see it come back repaired this time either. Actually, I'm kinda hoping it does, so if gives me an excuse to really flip-out at them.

Dell has lost my business for the future as far as I'm concerned. (Alright, maybe the 2001 FP LCD does look nice....)

PS: If this at all sounds harsh, this week-end has been a bit of a pain in the ass for me (not literally).
