Dang It! - Page 4

my best guess is if those specs ARE true then they wont be phasing out the 8600 for another year i also find it hard to believe 5700go isnt on that chart smiley made ive seen comparrisons and the 5700 vanilla against the 9700 vanilla are good matches id hate to see dell note give an option for it

I did not see anything on that page referncing to Dell or another 'Official" site.

I was guessing the 5150 would get those chips and the 9100 would get the Dothans!

The best desktop bang for the buck cards out there according to both TOMS and Anand are the Radeon 9600 pro (not XT) and the 5700 Ultra. Im rebuilding mine and being an Nvidia fan , (drivers, drivers, drivers) the 5700U look great!

hey, who said that I was on tombo's side? cmon now, I just got my laptop and I already had people - dell-machina - telling me to send it back. I play limited games, and at framerates that really dont cause anyone to gasp at how crappy they are. For laptops, I like the one I got for what tombo77 was saying. thanks tombo77 even though I wasnt on anyone's side in this argument.

If it makes me happy, I'll keep it, and if not, it always makes a good paper weight til another bios update comes out! hopefully a toned down fx 5700 will work soon.

Ugh - Maybe side shouldn't have been used as it implies a divison when in fact we're all in agreement that we all are happy with the performance/price with regareds to video performance of our respective machines.

NO there are no "sides' There are a couple "classes" of users though.
Thise who want maximum performance with whats available today.
And those (like myself) who want the minimum performace specs needed to run todays's apps satisfactorily for a minimum of outlay.

My veiw is the latter and becasue after reading these and Dell's forums I almost spent over another $1000 to at least play some of todays' games. I realized I did not HAVE to and wanted to share that information and my experiece maybe to save another a few dollars who wants to enjoy the gaming experience as well without paying twixcw as much.

IS my gaming perfect? no but it's not frustrating and I do not make a hobby out of benchmarking. If Deathinacan has a great gaming experience on his lappy, I think I did him a great service with y posts. If not he has the option of sending it back. Since he is not the Serious gamer, I think he will be content with his lapy. Although I cannot speak for the 5150 in general. I

His config is more powerful than mine though.

I just ordered a gig of Kingmax 2700 RAM though....It runs cooler than the stock ram and I only had a couple sticks of 256.. Heat is the enemy!!!!

Maximum Performance (Sager)

Dont use sides as tombo said class one another i just prefer mobility with a slice of power is it so wrong?

gawd,

Sorry, didnt mean to get all theoretical on yer butt. I just meant to say that I ordered my computer over here in iraq, and someone was quick to be critical about it rather than support what I got. I saw a 64mb v card and a p4 3.06ghz m and i jumped the gun. should I have waited - maybe. maybe another refurb would of had been cheaper later, but I didnt want to wait, the sooner I buy it in the states, the sooner I get it in Iraq.

Oh and dell-machina, thanks for the little 'smile for the camera' bs, but really its not appreciated. I dont like to be mocked when you just sit on yer booty, and take your freedom to type forgranted. People like the friends I lost just two days ago, died so you can type on this forum and tell people how to make their computers better. You are a great moderator, but please dont say 'down with war' - just say 'support our troops.'
