5680 upgrade questions

Thread Starter
I'd like to do a few upgrades to my 5680, but I have a few questions before I get started...

1. Can I replace the HDD with a 7200 RPM HDD, and hot big can I go?
2. I do not have a wireless mini pci card and would like to get one. Which do you recommend?
3. How do I tell if the modem I have has bluetooth? I've never installed the drivers for it because I was never sure which ones to install. (I got the notebook used)

Thanks for you help

1. you can replace with a 7200rpm hdd. i think 80gig is the largest they make for that spindle speed, but i could be wrong. basically, you can get any laptop (2.5") hdd to replace the current one.

2. anything that's not the dell card. it's pretty crapy as far as losing signals.

3. the modem isn't bluetooth. if you had bluetooth there'd be a bluetooth card in the laptop. since you haven't installed bluetooth drivers and your computer isn't telling you it has found new hardware (i.e. bluetooth card) you don't have bluetooth.

I have the Hitachi Travelstar 100GB 7200RPM drive in my 5680 and it works fine:

To verify for sure whether you have a bluetooth card installed, just pop your keyboard, remove a few screws to get that plate off, and look.
