Dualview not working!

Dualview won't work for me, on my external monitor it just shows my backround with no icons or anything. I am using 81.87 drivers from laptopvideo2go.

that's what dualview is. if you want it to show the same on both, use Clone. (forces both screens to the same resolution for obvious reasons)

dual view is great if you want to have more desktop. you can drag windows onto the second monitor

if you want the task bar to span both use horizontal span (best if the monitors are the same size and resolution)

oh ok, but when I do clone I am limited to 1600x1200 on my laptop.

yes....if you are cloning on a screen that is not wide aspect and is set to 1600x1200. Clone forces it to the same resolution.

basicallly it forces to the least common resolution if your secondary screen can only do 1280x1024, it will force your laptop to do the same

ok so how can I make it so I can run 1920x1200 on my laptop and a diff resolution on my external monitor?

There is no way to clone with two different resolutions.

If you use dual view, you can set your laptop to 1920x1200 and the other screen to whatever you like, but it's not going to show the same stuff on both.

ok, thanks for your help.

I use dualview on my TV. I have my laptop res set to 1920x1200 and the TV to 1024x768. Thing is, the TV res seems to be messed up as it is too big, the wallpaper is clipped off the edges of the screen. If I use 1024x768 in Clone, however, it fits just fine.

Also, if I play a vid on the TV in dualview, then close the laptop lid, the video disappears. This doesn't happen in Clone.

What am I doing wrong here?

You dont see icons because it's an extension of your desktop. You can drag icons and windows to the external monitor. This is where the true power of dual view lies. Open a window on the external monitor and some other stuff on the notebook monitor.
